Title: Heading off to Arcadia at last!
Post by: belfert on December 25, 2010, 03:35:01 PM
I will be leaving for Arcadia within the next 30 minutes.  Wish me luck with the winter driving conditions.

I'll be leaving about 90 minutes later than planned as I took a nap for a few hours, but forgot to turn on my alarm clock to get up.

Looking forward to meeting you Brian...we will be there on Tuesday.
Hear you are picking up a dear friend on the way down...watch your black tanks for strange communicators that could wind up in there! ;D

I stopped at the Walmart in Wisconsin Dells for the night.  I didn't see the signs about no overnight parking until this morning.  I wasn't bothered and probably no campgrounds open anyhow.

It is cold!  The defrost works somewhat for heat, but most of it goes up into the passenger area.  I had the generator running with two electric heaters while I was driving.  I am going to try to skip the heaters today to save on generator fuel.  I do know it will start getting slowly warmer as I head south.

Brian, we are in Ga. and it is cold! It is snowing like crazy. Please take it easy and be careful. You will be in Fl. before it gets warm, lol.

Mark, a lot of the Walmart parking bans come about by campground operators that get the ban put in place to protect their business!  Not all...however some.
If the campground operators were at all smart they would set a reasonable price for folks just overnighting.

Every pole in the lot in Kingman, Arizona at China World states "no overnight parking" (they had a gunfight in the parking lot there, and that just about fixed it for everyone else) in Flagstaff, they passed a ordinance including "any business" not just only WalMart.  For instance Cracker Barrel was included in the list.  I stayed at the Cracker Barrel but I asked permission beforehand.

Unfortunately, BK called me within the last hour to say he doesn't think he will make to Arcadia due to issues with two of his buses.
