Title: Arcadia
Post by: Ace on December 23, 2010, 01:54:37 PM
Works all done, food is all packed, and golf cart is charged. Only thing left is to load the bikes in the trailer, load warmer clothes in the bus, load fire pit, load extra heater (just in case), hook up trailer and boogity, boogity, boogity!

Hurry up Santa and be gone already!

The weather seems pretty decent to me, but I'm coming from Minnesota.

I'm busy washing clothes for the trip and getting everything packed in the bus.  I'm in between jobs packing the bus and finishing up some stuff for work.

i have shorts, sandals, and sunglasses ready, beer is cold, and i'm ready for those temps after working the last 3 months in a very cold Kentucky (thank God for Bourbon and Wild Turkey American Honey).

Looking forward to seeing old and new friends, learning a bunch, and relaxation, as well as gaining new ideas for some improvements to ours.

See you all at THE Rally! ;D

We'll start a small caravan early on the 28th from the ATL area, spending the night on Jim and Cindy Conway's ranchette in Dunnellon FL. Jim has a great shop for his MC102a3 and several restored classic cars. May visit briefly with other busnuts there, but will roll into Arcadia Wednesday mid-afternoon. Looking forward to seeing everyone!

Looking forward to Bussin 11; this will be my first one, and in fact, my first winter bus trip since getting this thing back in the spring. Since there is a storm coming before we leave, I am hoping the roads are not too bad getting down to I-95 here in NC, but only time will tell.

Was wondering about how go about to de-winterizing da bus on the way down. Since temps here have been down to the mid-teens, the fresh water system is winterized right now with antifreeze, but I need to flush the system once we get a bit south of here and dump the waste tank. Since we are planning to overnight at the Pooler GA Sam's Club rather than at a campground with hookups, does anyone know of a good place to dump the tank and fill up with water somewhere off I-95 between the I-40 interchange and the Savannah GA exit? It will take a while to do it all and I suspect a Flying J or such might be pretty crowded. Any suggestion of the best place to do this all?

Never stayed at the Pooler Ga Sam's club but I can suggest staying at the Pooler Ga. Walmart instead. They are open ALL night with many rv'rs and semi trucks that usually park next to the Home Depot but not IN the Home Depot. I feel a littel more secure there with them being open all night and truckers there as well.
There are a couple of truck fuel stops there as you go in as well that MIGHT have a dump station.

I-95 Exit(mm) 102 US 80 / GA 26 / Pooler
Bill Waites RV World; go east of exit and then right at first light; no charge

Told the boss we live 2 mi. from I-85, all I need to do is get to the interstate !!Should be no problem with 40' of bus at 39000lbs,  18' trailer with two motorcycles and stuff!!LOL

Ace, us truckers spend a lot of money at the WalMart and Home Depot because they are trucker friendly.  In fact I purchased a Magic Chef refrigerator for the truck a couple of months ago from Home Depot.
And I would say it is one of the safest places I have seen!
Jack
PS...looking forward to getting to Arcadia Tuesday!

If anybody up North needs a free place to park for a night in North Carolina on their way to or from Arcadia let me know. I'm located 20 minutes east of I-485 near Charlotte NC. Plenty of room for parking (10 acres worth). No electrical hookup but in very rural private location so running a genset is not a problem at all. I do have plenty of good well water and you could also dump your grey tank here.

If Jimmy gets filled up, I've got plenty of room too, in the same Charlotte/Monroe area.   15 minutes South off I-485, exit 52.   Couple of minutes from Monroe International Airport (KEQY for you flying sorts).    And I got references!  Ask Jack and Paula or Mike L about the facilities!  ;)  ;D
Water and 50A (range plug), or 30A RV for one coach.  20A for 3 or 4 coaches.   Gensets are good too.   Had a 50A RV converter outlet, but ran over the puppie with the tractor!   ???   Saving up to get another one fixed up soon.
Wish we could do Arcadia again, but, spousal component has filled up the week (as usual).
Cannot risk exposure to Florida weather either....probably never leave!
Jimmy, let's meet for lunch in Monroe sometime...I'm usually available.   Nice looking '9 you got there.  Looks like a D model.
Oh well, back to the cold.  Mr. Bus is all bundled up for the winter.  Next stop, Palmetto Cove, April!   8)
