do I really need access thru floor to rear of 60 series? Thinking about at least reducing size to fit 42" shower in master bath. Not much there that couldn't be accessed otherwise. Comments please! 98 Prevost XLE Bob
Hi Bob,
Just had a look inside my hatch and there a couple of things which are much easier to do from the top...
Access to the turbo and in my case the drive couplings, etc for the rad fan. If I ever need to access the
top end it will be much easier through this opening.

Did a tune-up recently on the hockey team's bus S60. A lot easier to do the rear cylinders through the hatch. I also service the Webasto from above. The turbo is right there too if you had to get at it. I would not reduce the size of the hatch, you might regret it if you broke down on the highway once, even in the comfort of your shop. The hatch on my 5C is too small: 12X12" approx., I dread having to really use it when I need to access something in the rear of the engine.

Bob,
I'm a firm believer in having the hatches & the bigger the better!
But just because they are there doesn't mean you have to use them to check the oil, show off the engine and etc. But very nice to have when needed!

I am able to retain a 16inch deep by 30 inch wide door by relocating shower base.will still build floor over it but seamed so it can be removed. prob use a brass grout joint around hatch. Might be a pill to take up but it will be there! just in case. Thanks to all. Bob
I don't think you can pull valve cover to tune engine without removing inside access cover in 98' Prevost. Do not cover it.
