Title: Is it worthwhile to bring a bike to Bussin'?
Post by: belfert on December 19, 2010, 02:46:42 PM
Would it be worth it to load up my bike to take to Bussin'?  I won't have any other transportation besides my legs.

I'm pretty sure the tires are nearly flat and I would have to find my pump.

Brian,

Bicycle?

If so, yes.   Its a fairly good sized area and plenty of area for a little ride.

Yes, I meant bicycle, not a motorcycle.  I don't have a motorcycle and no desire for one.

I'll see if I have time to get my bike ready in time.  I need to get back outside and work on my list of stuff to do before Arcadia.

FWIW, there's really no place you can go by bicycle outside of the Turner center itself.  The nearest businesses are a mile and a half down a high-speed road.

A bike might be useful to get around the fairgrounds, but really it's not large enough to be a requirement.  You can walk to every place a coach will be parked, and walking back and forth to the pavilion from your coach will be a snap given where they are going to park you.

Of course, who am I to talk, I'll be using a motor scooter to get around.  Lazy b......

Take it. It doesn't cost anything if you don't use. I would have liked to have had mine when I was there, but might not have used it much. I had the car, too, so would have only used it around the gathering.

Brian,
Although a bicycle is not necessary, it might be nice, especially if you want to ride it for exercise. As was mentioned Tractor Supply, WalMart and restautants about 1-2 miles from the Turner Center. If you need something, it is easy to catch a ride with someone or have them pick it up for you.  I think Ace can tell you about riding a bicycle to Walmart from the old rally site.  Jack

I was wondering about that too, although I was thinking something a little lazier, like my gold cart, lol. But, if it isnt that far, I guess we can walk. ::)

I think I'll probably leave my bicycle at home.  I have a ton of other stuff to do before I leave Saturday evening.

Ruthi -

Lots of golf carts at the rally, a common means of conveyance.  Does yours fit in a baggage bay?

Brian -

If you don't bring your bike, make sure you've got some comfortable walking shoes.  Not that getting around the Turner Center is a long way, just that you'll have such a good time walking around visiting with all the rest of the busnuts there!

C-ya!
