Title: Free dinner for forum members at Bussin' 11
Post by: belfert on December 10, 2010, 11:25:16 AM
There is no catered dinner scheduled at Bussin' 2011 for Wednesday evening.  There is an ice cream social at 7 pm Wednesday evening.

I am planning a free dinner for BCM forum members on Wednesday evening around 5:30 pm at Bussin' 11.  Any forum member and spouse/family can contact me via PM if they wish to attend.  I need to limit attendance to 30 to 40 people as I don't have enough equipment to cook more food than that.

Menu:
Italian sausage
Pasta with sauce
Garlic bread
Broccoli (or other vegetable)
Caesar salad
Bring your own beverage

Cost: free / no charge

I have cooked this meal outdoors for 60 before so 30 to 40 is doable.    I would like to find a few volunteers to help with the cooking if possible.

Please RSVP to me via PM if you are interested.  You will need to bring your chair(s) and beverage.  I'll have to somehow post where I am once I get parked.  I am traveling through the snow belt so I make no guarantees I will even be there, but I plan to be there.

I realized I don't really have a way to cook brocolli for 30 to 40 people.  It is also a little hard to keep warm.   I did canned corn the last time I did this meal.  I'm open for suggestions on a vegetable.

It looks like I have about 20 people so far so there are still spots open.

With all that you already have on this nice Italian menu, I doubt anyone would miss the broccoli....  FWIW

I haven't gone through all of the PMs yet, but it appears there is still room for dinner.

I have had numerous offers to help with dinner.  I'll probably ask volunteers to come by about 4:45 pm or so to see what help I need.  I had 4 or 5 helpers the last time I did this meal, but I also was doing the meal for 60 people of which 45 were young Boy Scouts.  I am working to get all the dishes and other equipment for the meal washed and packed for the trip to Arcadia.

Brian,

If it helps, I can offer my portable induction hob as a spare burner for you.

I'm planning to cook the entire meal outdoors as long as it is not raining.  If it is raining we might be out of luck.  The last time I did this meal it was maybe 50 degrees outside at best.

I have a full size gas grill, three burner stove with 50K BTU burners, an additional 50K BTU burner, and a Coleman stove.  I also have a 16 quart pot and a huge 15"x30" griddle.

Brian,
If it is raining, I might be able to come up with an under cover place, but it would not be at your bus. On second thought, I might be able to park you near the unused pole barn next to the one we use. You would be close to everything that is going on and we might be able to use a small ;portion of it for your supper.  Jack

Brian you might check with Jack and see if the "pavilion" where all other meals and etc. are held is available. It's covered and has plenty of room to "set-up" for your dinner.
Just a suggestion. FWIW

Jack funny you should ask. ;)
No the group I brought down last yr only comes down to the event in Orlando every 2 yrs (even though it is an annual event). But don't think I didn't try to convince them to go every year! (and they said they may think about starting to make it an annual event from next yr on, as they said the experience with our company was the best one they'd ever had with no problems and quality equipment, professional drivers, perfect time schedules and etc.)

But funny thing is while I was over in the PM section sending Brian a PM asking about his schedule (to see if I can make it work to "sneak away and hitch a ride with him). You were typing this.

(if it works out BK will be there! ;))
