I was contacted by a friend who works at a large manufacturing facility in our area. He knows I have busnuts who use the older Detroit Diesels and wonders if anyone might want their unit. They have a 671 that is both supercharged and turbocharged. They are replacing the 671 with a newer (emissions friendly) unit. They have all maintenance records and are anal about keeping equipment fresh. The unit was used as an emergency fire pump and ran no longer than about 20 minutes per month. Not sure of total hours. It will be surplused sometime soon. He has promised to get me more details in the coming days. He knows the unit has been tuned down and never really ran hard or long. I might also be able to get pictures of its current setting.
Is this something that a busnut would be interested in?
Just hate to see this go to the scrap yard.
Most likely a right turning engine, so it would have to be cheap enough to justify the expense to reverse it.
A vintage truck enthusiast might be interested in a right turning engine?
After all, the truckers are the ones that hung the "Screamin' Jimmie" name on them.
And that one sounds like it'll be capable of some screamin'!!!
happy coaching!

Sure wish this was close to the east coast. The turbo and accessories are hard to find here. But if Don gets it ,maybe i can trade him out of them.
