Every early Novemeber major snowstorm to hit Minnesota and the Great Lakes, was preceded by exceptionally nice weather. Nov 1, 1991, Nov 10th, 1975, Nov 29, 1966, Nov 11, 1940, Nov 9, 1913, and many others.

From someone in the Pacific Northwest, I predict that it will cooldown in Minnesota within a couple of days.
I'm also in MN and the weather is probably 25 degrees above normal. I tried to replace my air compressor governor today, but I need a new air fitting. It is supposed to be almost as warm with a chance of rain for Wednesday. I am hoping I can get the new part tomorrow and get the governor installed before it gets cold again.
Yes, it is supposed to cool off by Thursday. Thursday will start three days of below average highs again.

It's been an incredible fall here in Nebraska. Looks like typical temps are on the way however.
Although we had temps in the 50's early this week, we are slowly approaching low 80's today! ;D ;D
Minnesota - Love it or leave it! I can stand the cold and snow, but 90+ degrees is not for me after a bout with heat stroke, ;D 68 degrees is perfect. (Art) the 31" snow storm was Oct 31st 1991. ?Preceed? We were closing on our new house that day. Last January, we were in Arcadia on the beach wearing T-shirts and the locals said to us "you're not from around here are you? As they were wearing sheatshirts and wind breakers. We said "No We're from Minnesota and this is what we call nice weather!" ;D

We spent some time at jacks, weather was perfect, that was the year I saw my first palm tree, kinda got to like them after that lol, am looking forward to some more great florida sunshine and people, one thing I couldn't figure out thos was why you can't buy a florida orange in florida unless you hit a fruit stand at a grove. Also learned to count the white schoolies at walmart before going in lol. Now I've got to find a towbar that I can hook up by myself, looks like some traveling by myself now and then.

I know what day it started, but all the news idiots like Dave Dull always refer to Nov 1 when they show the snow total measured out at the airport and pretend like thats the only place that counts in a 2500 square mile metro area. I was living out near St Francis then, and we were pretty buried. Watched the news Halloween night, watching people shovling 2 feet plus of snow out of their boats out on Minnetonka, scrambling to get em out before they sank. Many, many boats sank during that storm, and many are still siting where they sank. The next day I began the task of plowing our 300 foot driveway, which had approx. 4 to 5 feet of snow most of the way. Took all day long while the temps dropped and the wind started screaming. Couldnt plow through it, had to take a bucket at a time and back up. Had giant snow mountains everywhere. The snow we got with that storm was still on the ground in late April, totally destroyed our driveway, had to park out at the highway for nearly a month while it made up its mind to finally melt.
The day before the storm, Oct 30., we were out driving around enjoying the beautiful, almost 70 degree weather. My dad was talking about that darn 1940 Armistice day storm, and how nice it was before it hit. And with all our modern weather, another storm like that could brew up and they still wouldnt see it coming.
Yeah, its a bit warm down here some days in july and august, not gonna lie. But its usually pretty dry so its not too unbearable. Frogs and fire flies came out on Feb 13th., and the frogs are out croaking right now tonight. The trees leafed out in late March, amd the leaves just started really falling after nearly 2 months of changing colors. They tell me the most snow they ever really had was 30 inches back in 1970. It was gone in about 2 weeks or so. GONE. They fish year round, we saw jet skis out on Dec 23rd. So no, I really dont miss Minnesota winter, even when they do have some exceptionally warm days., I always believed the weathers gonna pay us back sooner or later. I hope for your sake its later. I would keep a close watch for one of those big lows that come sneaking up out of Texas sucking moisture out of the Gulf and hit the jet stream up north. I think Dave Dull refered to it as a Panhandle Hooker.
HAH! What weather? And sorry about the heat stroke and all... but at 90 degrees? boy that sucks, 90 degrees here would be almost a 30 degree cool snap for desert SW. and lets not forget Mr DRY ::) any thing outside 10 percent becomes free evaporative cooling here. I remember a 20 minute trip home from the valley turned into a 6 hour delay because of a freak blizzard that left 10"'s of snow on railroad pass, good thing for the casino being right there other wise we would be eating one another like Donners Pass :o ;D ;D. By the way shorts and a tee today ;) ;) So hang in there Minnesota, let's hope winter has been canceled this year. All the Best!

Here along the south shore of Lake superior we never quite know from one day to the next what the weather will bring, I've seen the 4th of july parade delayed for a couple of hours by the clean up crews after we got some unusual snow and I've seen people water ski on christmas day. Our normal snowfall total for a season is 300 to 400 inches and I've seen 5 ft drop over night, we just deal with it when it hits. One thing we do pretty regular is watch whats happening in Duluth cause that will be what happens here the next day sometimes to a greater degree and sometimes less depending on wind direction, if the wind comes off the lake and the lake is still open we brace for a wet heavy mess but as the season progresses and the lake freezes over the snow drys out and it's not so bad. Our road commissions prepare for snow with massive snow blowers mounted on dump trucks that could eat small cars and sometimes do lol, we've all got 4 wheel drives and snowblowers to clean up our little areas and normally by noon after a bad storm the world has once again returned to normal. For those of you who live in minnisota, libby and I are almost exactly 220 miles east of duluth at the base of the keweenaw penninsula on lake superior, easy drive.
Dang Cody, we got close to your place. Deb and i in the 4104, and our friends Don and Sue in their Silversides were in the Porkies the first week of Oct. Incredible weather, breathtaking leaf colors, clear blue skies and just a breeze with warm temps. We had an awesome time out your way! Although the bike ride from Union Bay up to Lake of The Clouds was a bit of a workout! Someone should open up a pasty shop near the campground out there! And the campground needs to put in parking pads. It was still pretty wet and soft and almost got the Silversides stuck there.

Dont quote me, but I believe Minnesota holds the record in the lower 48 states for the greatest 24 hour temperature change of nearly 100 degrees, the record for the coldest Temperature ever recorded in the lower 48 (-68F), the lowest Barometric pressure ever recorded (on land) (three times breaking its own record consecutively IIRC), and I also believe they hold the record in the lower 48, for the longest periods below freezing as well as longest periods below zero.
Growing up living in Duluth, there are all kinds of crazy things I remember. Like guys adding extensions to ice augers to drill through more than 60 inches of ice. Digging house foundations 12 feet deep (code), putting water lines 10 feet deep (and still they freeze). Seeing Park Point cut off at the pier for almost a week from 30 foot snowdrifts and huge ships pushed ashore. I remember it staying below zero for something like 40 days one winter. They had icicle contests, I think the winner was like 70 feet tall out somewhere in East Duluth. Seeing patches of winter snow on north facing hillsides into early July. Of course I also remember freezing my feet and hands several times, once so bad they blistered from actual frostbite. And I knew a guy who froze to death after his car stalled in a blizzard. Found him half naked just 200 feet from where his car had been, guess its common to rip off your clothes just before you freeze. My Dad worked with a guy at the Air Base who froze his ears so bad after being outside only 15 minutes, that they broke off like potato chips when he got inside and tried to rub them. Brrrrrrrrrrr.
I'm sure glad we don't get that kind of weather, my palm tree's would freeze. ;D
I'll take heat stroke any day over freezing.
I live in Duluth, and now you know why I am really, really looking forward to a winter in South Texas this year!!!

It's 75 degree's out, the sun is shining, I can hear the neighbors mowing their lawns, I should pull the weeds from the flower beds and trim the hedge, oh crap is that my alarm clock going off?
The snow today in Minnesota is so wet and heavy that a tree branch is bent over and touching my bus due to the weight. I'm surprised I haven't lost any large branches due to the snow.
I'm hoping it warms enough so the snow melts do I can finish up the two repairs to my bus I started this past week. The two repairs are less an hour to finish, but I have to have an hour of daylight to do them. Today would be a good day if not for the snow.

We came thru the weekend in good shape, was mostly rain until last night where it turned to snow and froze a little but this morning showed a skim of snow and ice, just enough to know it's there, nothing like the "significant snowfall" like they had predicted. I'm hoping for another mild winter if possible, it seems the last couple of winters the major storms have tracked south of us, my 'onset MS" is no longer onset so any help mother nature can send my way is muchly appreciated in regards to global warming, I can't hardly wait to plant my first palm tree.
