Just curious about something. When I recently changed out my driver's seat, I noticed that it was not centered to the steering wheel. I altered the pedestal so the new seat is though. When talking to Ed H., he mentioned that his is also not centered. We both have 5a's, by the way. I was wondering if this was commonly done with buses and ,if so, why? My only thought was that maybe it was easier on the clutch leg. Thanks

Ours is also off center. Think it has to do with the manual shift location. It's not bad and I'll deal with it. I noticed it when we switched from the air ride to the wider Flexsteel.
I think that I did not really notice it with the old seat because the seat itself, which was off center to the left, was compressed off center to the right. When I placed to new seat in to see how it felt, it became obvious. At first I thought the PO had just installed the rv pedestal wrong.

The big problem with putting the seat all the way up front is that it is hard to watch tv while traveling.

If you have one of those rigs that "practically drives itself," then why stop there? Put it back so you can access the fridge too. Want to stay hydrated you know ;D

I relocated my seat as well. The PO's conversion (Kaylor) I believe reinstalled the new seat off center, like the OEM. I did not understand why, but did recentered. I have an automatic so no biggie there.
MCI's had a tendency to offset the seat to allow the driver to lean into corners opposite the weak side of the air beams lol, some iggles were also set up that way if they were previously owned by MCI owners. ;D ;D ;D ::)
Our driver's seat is also off set slightly to the left of the steering wheel. When I installed the new seat, I rotated it slightly to the right so it more less points to the throttle pedal. Jack
I think that they may have done it that way so that there was a couple more inches of room for the passengers getting on and off of the bus.
Funny that you mentioned this Lin, we just noticed this last night while having cocktails on board, kinda works out for us because of our long legs ;D
I've been wondering about this from another perspective, and the question may shed some light. In my last two automobile, the driver's seated position is not quite centered. Stated differently, if I'm centered in the driver's seat, the steering column is offset a little to my left. It may have something to do with my width, I use the whole driver's seat - not just a portion.
Next time I'm at the 4107, I'll take a look at that, too. So, are your car driver seats offset from steering wheels?

Both of my cars have the seat centered to the steering wheel. I wonder what the setup is on newer buses that were designed around automatic transmissions. Anyone got one of those?
I notice allot of you are saying you noticed after a new seat was in. I wonder if the old seat's mounting bracket to the pedestal were off center for room on the floor to make the shifter box cover fit. With the new seats they may be centered for RV use. Just a guess.
Our drivers seat in our PD-4108 is set slightly to the left too. I find that after driving for a couple of hours, the slight "unnatural" stretch to keep my foot on the throttle puts strain on the inside of my right leg. I compensate by sitting off to the right side of the seat sometimes. I thought it was a quirk with our coach. Nice to see it's not.

Try using your hand throttle. I have to use mine because of a back problem.
Just make sure it is easily released (No notches) if you want to avoid any undue excitement!! Mine has notches on one side but is smooth when rotated 180*.
