I'm jumping the gun just a little here as there are some other features that will be going live in the next couple days including the industry links, events and news pages. But I thought I would throw this one out here for y'all to check out.
On the main home page ( www.BusConversions.com (http://www.busconversions.com) ) there is now a tab named "Tools". The resulting section includes some useful converters and calculators. Later we'll add more material to that section. But right now it has:
- A converter to help with U.S/Metric conversions of sizes and distances (linear measure for anyone wanting the precise term).
- A converter for units of measure for Power. For example how many Horsepower is 12 Kilowatts? (there is an explanation written by Sean on the page as to why converting between HP and Btu doesn't apply to finding out how many HP an AC compressor draws)
- Tank size calculators for rectangular and cylindrical tanks in both U.S. and metric sizes.
- Drivetrain calculator to help figure out a range of drivetrain questions like what gear ratio will give me what speed or how many RPM's will be needed at what speed.

Cool!!
;)
Awesome to start a one spot where nuts can go to get commonly used tools during their conversion.
How about we start the same list of actual non-digital tools that may be purchased or collected prior to a conversion. Things like compressors, staplers,......
Just thinking!

That sounds like a good idea. I know there have been various threads in the past asking about favorite tools and such. I'll go ahead an post a new thread where everybody can contribuite to a list of all the various tools they find useful. Then after that thread has had its run, we can compile all the replies into a list that will be added to the first post in the thread and we'll put the thread in the Technical Archives section of this forum where it can be easily referenced.

Mike, I just noticed a typo in that write-up, probably in my original. There is a period between "volume" and "likewise" in the first graph that should be a comma. Thanks.

Fixed.
HTR,
How about a permanent link to the Busconversions.com main page from the bulletin board. I think most of us come directly into the board, in fact, I usually come into "unread messages".
It would be nice to have a simple way to the magazine home page.

Phil & I discussed it and agree it sounds like a good idea. So - voila! right end of the menu bar - BCM Home Page.
