Title: Any way to fix sticky weatherstripping on luggage doors?
Post by: belfert on October 03, 2010, 08:25:09 AM
We had a leak of a liquid called DOA in my bus on our recent trip home.  (DOA is a plasticizer.)  It softened up the weatherstripping on at least one of the luggage bay doors and made it really sticky.

Is there any way to clean up the weatherstripping, or do I need to look for a replacement?

belfert,
Plasticizers are volital and should dry in a few days, try leaving the doors open to help the drying.

I will try leaving the door open as long as it doesn't rain.

I am hoping leaving the door open will work as MCI lists the door seal as special order with no listed price.  It is likely either not available or pricey.  I also have to buy a 10 meter long chunk.  There is a local place that sells all kinds of weatherstripping for vehicles that I will check out if the weatherstripping doesn't go back to normal.
