I know we have discussed this topic before of here, but, here we go. Our bus is 12'6 at tallest point. We have basement air, so nothing on top, yet. We are looking into what kind of satelite to put on it. We already have direct tv at home, so it has to work with direct tv. If we put a 12 in. one on, that will raise the height to 13'6. Is that too high to consider? We can put on a 6 inch one, but have heard of issues with those, and you have to use a 12v receiver with them. I also read that it only gets direct tv from the 101 sat. I think that is the right number. I dont know if that means it doesnt get all the programming or what. My brain is fried trying to figure this all out. I would really rather go with the 12 inch because it works with the regular receivers we have. But, I worry about the height thing. We travel only in the southeast. Mostly stick to roads that truckers use. I sure dont want to be freaked out all the time about the height. Anyhow, any and all help, opinions, etc appreciated. Thanks guys ???
Ruthi,
13'6" is the maximum allowed height on the Interstates(with out permits). Pretty much every truck with a van trailer is running at that height. Seems like as long as your careful and aware when you're on the roads the truckers don't use, you shouldn't have any problems.
