Title: Route to Prescott
Post by: loosenut on September 24, 2010, 02:00:30 PM
How is the route from the eastbound 10, where I would head north on the 60 to the 71 and into Prescott on the 89?  Good or bad for a shorty 6v92ta with auto.  Or would I be happier (faster) going the extra 60ish miles through Phoenix and up the 17 to the 69?

Thanks for your help,

Mike

Going up the 89 would be shorter.  However...... you have a fairly steep climb  between Congress and Yarnell and most of the rest of 89 is really twisty and slow and a few more sections to climb.  I would and have gone in on I-10 and hit the 101 loop up to I-17 then to the 69 and on into Prescott.  Much better route for the bus and probably not much longer in time. At least you won't be seasick by the time you get there. ;D

I live in Prescott and I always go 10-60-71-89 from the Quartzsite area.  When you get on 89 you'll see a sign warning long trucks to take the alternate route through Skull Valley.  This is an easier route and the same distance to Prescott.  This route is steep at the end, but so is I-17 north out of Phoenix.
