Crown,

Hate to hear that story.....I had a similar experience when I was first coach shopping.  I had actually won the coach on eBay and someone else sent the guy an email and he sold it to them.  He didn't care a hoot.

What goes around, comes around and I believe that people like that get whats coming to them eventually.

The good news is, I found the coach I have now, it was a better deal and I saw the other coach for sale a year later with a bad engine.

Sorry for you situation, it will all work out..........

Just playing Devils advocate here. Did the seller know you bought tickets and were on your way, making plans, etc..??  If they did, then they really are SOB's. If however, you had not made it 100% clear to them your intentions, that you were onyour way, then the problem is really your own, and no one else's. Curious if you made a deposit to hold it, or if they verbally told you they would hold it for you.

Even though your in Costa Rica, you may be able to make a claim against them for damages. I would imagine airline tickets to the US are quite expensive, especially if they are non-refundable. But if you didnt make a deposit, or have a verbal agreement on tape, you probably wont get very far. Sorry for the trouble.

I will say though, Bus shopping is a lot different than anything I have ever tried to buy. Sellers act like locals are going to beat their door down to buy it, hard to get them to send pics, hard to get them to give details, they ALL have a rebuilt engine without paperwork or a new clucth without same. Its really a crazy market.

I wish you luck, hope your dreasms do come true.

This all does suck! Not to take up for the seller but all the out of the country scams now  days its hard to wait on a buyer. If it's not to far you need to check this place out. It has everything and they will tell you up front if any problems. http://www.pplmotorhomes.com/ (http://www.pplmotorhomes.com/)

john,

i'm so sorry you keep getting burned by jerks.  i'm with BK-someone that would make a deal and then sell it out from under you at the last minute, needs his nuts in a cracker for a while.  or just cut his fingers off so he can't use craig's.

at this point, fly up anyway, rent a car, stay in a hotel, go to the bus rally.  if you stay in the nice but inexpensive hotels, you might even save money between cost of the rv and the diesel to go in it versus driving a car.

remember the real benefit of the trip.  Relax and see the countryside (and us).

by the way, i have a friend whose talking about retiring to Costa Rica in a couple years.  he'd really appreciate if you can send me any tips for him to watch out for or look for in moving to CR.

Why not post the ad on here so some of us can flag it for the seller, to help out as it were.

I keep looking at buses that are over 500 miles away, and this is the kind of stuff im afraid of.

Look at the bright side. At least you didnt come all the way up here to find out he sold it. And maybe he did you a favor, maybe there was some hiden issue with it and he was afraid it would come back to bite him.

You just hit the nail on the head he wants some sucker to come buy it from way off taking his word "it all worked when I put it in storage" and heading off down the hwy tired and weary before finding out what is wrong with it!

Granted John is from about as far away as anyone likely to buy would ever be, but John has me, Mike Sullivan and several other "allies" too close to the  guys for him to feel comfortable selling it to John and it not being as said! (I think he knows I'll open a 5 gallon bucket of WHOOP @$# on his sorry scumbag SOB @$#!)

yes it is the right ad!
It's a temp RV for John to enjoy while building his "Crown" bus he already has!

RV, BUS, pile of dog crap it doesn't matter the seller is still a friggin jerk and class A ASSHOLE! (he knew John was putting out some serious $ to be able to come enjoy his vacation and hit some rally's and put faces with people he's met here on the board! & still screwed him over!)

That's OK what goes around comes around and BK is on the WAR PATH!

fuggedaboutit!  A motorhome with a blue tarp over it most likely has roof leaks.

To heck with the dirt bag. You dont want a s&s anyway. My advice to you would be to go on the trip and then rent a car at the airport and then rent a motorhome as close to the rally as possible (to save on the mileage) and drive the rv to the rally to stay in. Also if you look at craigslist in the rally areas you can often find an rv for sale or even a trailor and contact the owner, tell them about the rally and tell them you would like them to take the trailor or rv to the rally and park it and let you stay in it for the week. It is good exposure for selling and gives you a place to stay AT the rally.

John,

You have your tickets. You have everything setup. Say "Shoot with it, and come on up anyways." Fly to wherever you are, rent a car, drive to a Cruise America place, and rent a RV. They are usually less than 100 a night. You can stay at the rally's, and then if you want return it and rent a car until the next rally.

Come on, pal. You can do it. Why not? You really don't have much to loose. Just do it!!!

God bless,

John

If he does, John, just get a new one. It isn't that big a deal.

However, you won't find me signing him up for anything. I figure that is the kind of nutcase that he is, not much will change him (certainly signing him up for spam).

Anyways, I am sorry you couldn't make it up.

John, anytime a door closes, another one thats better opens, it's the nature of life, don't worry about the guy, things like that have a tendancy to come back around on a person, someday he'll hear the banjos, meanwhile enjoy the upper road, he isn't worth getting upset over, you have actual friends here that you can count on, scratch the guy off your list and move on, plenty of opportunity out there.  I've found that often when a deal falls thru, there was a reason it didn't work out and somebody up there was watching out for my well being.

John, Use your tickets and fly up! There a tons of S & S for sale all over the place. Find one you like, buy it and hit the road. I would rather buy one after seeing it anyway. By the looks of the one you wanted, it probably leaked like a sieve.

Don't give up on your dream! Like cody says, when one door shuts another will open, usually better too! I can speak from experience in that department! ;)

John, The motorhome in corpus is ready to go. Needs a good cleaning, maybe a day, and you'd be ready to go. I know this motorhome and would drive it anywhere. Those pictures didn't do it justice. I think you'd be happy with it. You could still make the rally's and have a good time. Come on up and follow us to TBR.

John,
It ain't me either. I did think about it, and really wanted to too. But I didn't out of respect for you. (since you reminded us that he had your email address too!)

Now on a side note I did drive by there yesterday evening about 7:00 PM and it is gone. I don't know if he really sold it or not, but he's removed it from the shed he had it 1/2 way parked in. (I didn't stop as I was simply rolling down the hwy on my way home from getting new tires put on one of the buses!)
