If you are trying to sell a bus, please post pics and details. I am actively looking. Looking at all types, but preferably not transit. It will be fun to see what you all have out there : )
Im curious what you found on the 4104. Any problems, not the style you want?
I am going to go look at the 4104 as soon as I can find a mechanic to go with me. I am interested in it, but am wanting to just see as much as I can of what is out there. I am becoming obsessed with this thing. I can see why one is called a bus nut!

That one I posted from calif really sounds about right for you. Make sure there are receipts for the engine work, also the asking price is a little high, you might get it for 10 (specially since you need to go out there bring it home ) but it looks ready to roll. FWIW if you shop around with a little patience you will you will save $$$.

I will have more pics and info for that one by tomorrow ;D It looks like it's my kinda ride! I hope you are right about getting it for a good price ; ) What would you start with for an offer if everything checks out?
It's weird with buses, they are kind of like old pianos, they have family history so sometimes the buyer really overvalues them (when I was looking for a piano everybody wanted 800-1200, ended up finding a package deal 3 fro 400) sold one for 300, scrapped the other for parts, and kept the third/best one) Point being when I was looking for an '04 some folks wanted big $$ for rough buses, some with broken glass, no documents, Dad put "tons" of money into it etc... and they want to make a "profit". A few got really pissed at offers for market value. I would look around and comparable used 35 motorhomes and coaches as a comparison, and offer $10K and if I had 10K right now I would probably get that bus and keep mine for parts.
I hear ya. That's how the fishy owner was. He just wouldn't budge. It's a nice bus, and somebody did put money into it, but it's just not worth 17 to me with the options on the market.
One of the main problems, I believe, with the value of our buses is that a higher dollar amount usually means financing. To my knowledge banks dont finance old buses (even recent beautifully converted ones), or at least they are hard to find...... and then the insurance problem too.
Amen brother! I can't get an auto loan from anyone. I'm going to have to do a signature loan. That's why my budget is so low.
lol, Im a "sister" :P ::) :o :D ;D
Woops! Bus nut profiling. My apologies ::)
Fortunately I look more like a girl in person then I do on a male dominated forum that deals with a male dominated subject haha!!! ;)

This is a bus that a member here may be up to sell me. Working on a price. Anybody know this bus?
These look like the holding tanks for the 4104 that's an hour away from me. Looks like they need to be replaced?
yuppers! I have an account but have not been keeping up with stuff on fb lately.........

Actually, banks won't loan on anything older than 10 years, so even newer old buses won't get you a regular bank loan! When we bought the Prevost, we were deciding between borrowing some of the money, and our bank told us they would not loan on the Prevost....they would give us a signature loan for that amount though, hahaha. I asked, "so you'd rather have NO collateral than the bus?..". He laughed and said "I know, it sounds crazy but the underwriters have rules and they just look at the loan parameters, not the loan applicant, so they won't accept the loan with the bus listed as collateral."
Now, having said that, of course, you can go non-bank routes for financing, but often the rates can be considerably higher.
As for insurance, you can not insure the bus for more than it is worth, but you CAN get an official appraisal and insure the bus for that amount. For example, the 4107 that we are selling for $35,000, is appraised and insured for $50,000, because we had a thorough appraisal done. You can get any bus appraised for as little as $175, but to get an accurate appraisal, be prepared to provide TONS of pictures and many, many specific details on components. Christy Hicks
