I recently read Eric's post about getting rid of his bus.
Eric, I feel your pain !!! I too am stripping out my bus and will be getting rid of it.
I am very close to retirement, next spring we'll start building the "retirement home" on the retirement property, and can not keep the financial risk of maintaining and continuing the conversion of the bus on a fixed retirement.
We would love to take a trip to Alaska for a month, and if I took the bus I would not be able to relax for a minute, worrying about an expensive breakdown, etc.
We have had the bus for 12 years, starting from scratch, and I'm probably at 80% complete. I am one of the lucky ones, not only did my wife Cheryl support my hobby, she was involved in it as much as I. It is with mixed emotions we both agree it's time move on without the bus.
As we all know, it is currently very difficult to sell a bus. I am taking out the items I can use, selling some of the items, and life goes on. We will donate the bus to a church gospel singing group to further their work.
We used the bus as a tin tent to camp in, we used it for month long vacations while traveling, we lived in it for 3 months when we moved to Idaho until we found a home to buy, and went to many terrific Western Busnut rallies. It has been a terrific hobby, we have met many, many wonderful fellow busnuts, and we by no means have any regrets about the journey.
Time to move on....currently looking at stick & staple 5th wheels......ok...., go ahead, beat me up....lol.

Yeah, it kinda bites when you realize that the coach has become nothing more than a carrying case for stuff that's worth more!
I like your donation idea, though.
Chris,
I always hate to hear when someone is moving on from there Bus, especially someone who has been a real inspiration for me in the conversion of my own GMC 4905.
Us GM guys have to stick together ya know......Remember to pull that 5th wheel with a GM ;)
Best of luck on your next project
Cliff
A wise man Chris these buses will bite you when you least expect it for big bucks and it will happen I know lol
