I posted sometime back that I was looking at a BlueBird Wanderlodge and asked did that make me a traitor to the cause. After all, it IS still a bus, just one that started out as a motor home. I think Christy Hicks said I would not be a traitor, just a subversive. Right after that post the servers failed & we lost some threads, including mine.
Well. I bought the BlueBird. So now I am a subversive, I guess. I couldn't help myself... I always liked the Wanderlodges & I got this one dirt cheap. Of course, I have been in Florida for a week trying to get it patched up enough to drive it home! ;D ;D ;D
The generator is the last thing to get running so I can leave & Kohler said they would have the voltage regulator tomorrow. I'm going to have some questions about that genny once I get it home. It supposedly is a Kohler diesel, 12.5 KW. it has a 4 cylinder Perkins in it. It sounds to me like it is turning 3600 RPM but the Kohler tech that came out said it's a 4 pole generator so it should be turning 1800 RPM. It sounds like a commercial whole house genset to me.
In case anyone is interested, the 'Bird is a 1982 PT40 with 113,000 miles. Lots of documentation. I am the 4th owner. The interior is pretty near perfect but the outside is very sad. Lots of primer & some rust. I have been tracking down electrical problems most of the week. That's a little disheartening because I pretty much had all of those fixed on my MCI.
BTW, I am sorry to say I will have to sell my MCI...... LOOKS LIKE I'M GOING TO NEED THE MONEY!!!! ;D ;D ;D

Subversive or not, once a busnut..... always a busnut.
Congrats on the bird purchase. Sounds like its gonna be a good project. We need photos!!!
I could help a bit with your 'old' bus.....if you're not gonna be using those bay doors anytime soon, send a couple my way. I will even pay the freight!! lol
Have a great day.
