I talked to him last night on the phone and he sent me an e mail that I pasted here. He says his clutch is in need of adjustment and wanted to know how to do that but I don't know about that. said also that he had been overheating and his fan wasn't working rite. Jerry

Hello All.
Names Elijah.
Not sure how to begin and never have really been all that good at talking about myself, I have over 20 yrs in the automotive service industries last managing 13 service bays at Pep Boys. A few years ago an old military service injury to the neck spinal area became an issue causing paralysis to my arms, and am currently fighting the VA for a proper rating after 2 years dealing with their "lost your file" routine. I am now living in my newly purchased (2yrs now) 4106 bus conversion and loving every minute of it. You guys are really unto something here, that's for sure.

Jerry32 Really deserves a round of applause for his offer to drive all the way from Pendleton OR to Spokane WA to help with the replacing of this drive line folks.
I have NEVER met such caliber of gracious people as represented here in this forum.
YOU GUYS ARE THE BEST, HANDS DOWN.
If anyone needs help with computers and software etc I am at your service if I know it or have it. I can tell you how to get free Internet to your buses with only a few hundred dollars to buy the equipment.
I will not forget your kindness.
ALL OF YOU.
GOD BLESS.

Eli

Elijah,  I am about 30 miles South of Spokane.  We are on vacation this week and have been busy with a family illness.

If you could give us a detailed post of what you need and what you already have coming it would help.  There are some local sources that might help too.

Let us know exactly what you need and maybe we can help.

Good luck,
Don 4107

Don.
I have the 4106 with 4 sp sft trans.
the U-joints look new nut no evidence of grease ever being pumped into them. I had the oil changed at a pilot trk shop and it was supposed to of been greased then but apparently was not, This said to impart an understanding of the total wreckage done to the failing u-joints and yoke knuckles on both ends of the drive line. it appears the transmission mounted yoke that receives that end of the shaft's u-joint caps is fine but the shaft's yoke knuckles on both ends are badly damaged as is the differential mounting flange yoke knuckles which is where the shaft end and I parted ways. causing no small alterations to the partition it goes thru widening that hole with much enthusiasm and glee. So it is with much sorrow I am in need of a complete drive-line from the u-joint at the transmission side to the companion flange that mounts to the emergency in-line brake hub at the differential, but I must sell my towed veh first to pay for it (much prayers) 89 GMC 1500 4x4 with new rear end and BF Goodrich 31.5x15 mud terrain tires all with only approx 1000 miles on them, weak tranny tho, I was hoping to fix soon.(I mention this in case anyone's looking for something like this but maybe I am breaking a rule?). Anyway; unless I can find someone closer to do the replacement Jerry32 has beyond the miraculous said he would drive the 200 miles up here to do the work to replace it. I am at the Argonne exit on 95 in the Marie Calendars parking lot north side of 95 and east side of the street. Big 35 footer with white and yellow stripe.
Bad situation all around, any help much needed and deeply appreciated.
Elijah.

look in back of the front bumper.2 bolts with chains,be careful when opening it up as it is freaking heavy.... it falls right at you.   to drain the front tanks you have a wire on the drivers side wheel well front and back.

I have a couple fire truck maintenance things to take care of this morning.  Looks to be a busy fire season around here.  Once I get those back in service I will see what I can do.

Do you have the drive line out now?

Have you found any of the parts yet?

Is the bus jacked up or sitting flat?

Can you build air?

Does the bus have a chuck to tap into the air system?

How are you fixed for tools?

What about blocks and jacks?

Let me know the answers to the above and as soon as I get the fire trucks handled I will be back to check.

Do you have the drive line out now?

The drive line is nearly out on it's own as it disengaged at the differential flange yoke and is nearly disengaged at the transmission yoke but did not break loose to hit the ground although nearly did, I can not get to the flange side to work on that but I can get to the transmission side but have been hunting down leads so haven't touched it yet.

Have you found any of the parts yet?

Bart of Grabhorn Enterprise down in Scappoose OR says he has the Companion Flange, Luke of US Coach is looking for a good used and is pricing as we speak, No other leads except local trk bone yards but just got the specs and dimensions so this AM will be calling these.

Is the bus jacked up or sitting flat?

Am parked just where I was pulled off the highway, Marie Calendar parking lot, I have no means to jack up so sitting flat.

Can you build air?

I can run the diesel to build air. (FINALLY something I CAN do) lol

Does the bus have a chuck to tap into the air system?

No, I don't believe it has a Chuck (tho I'm beginning to think it has a Dwain as it is dwaining me of late).LOL ;D
I do have a 10 ft air hose I picked up a year ago with the intent to do that very thing when I could.

How are you fixed for tools?

Have a full set of quality ratchets, sockets for standard repairs but nothing exotic. I believe I have all required tools for this straight forward job, from what I can tell.

What about blocks and jacks?

I have NO jacks (just Dwains) ;D for this weight but a 2ton floor jack for light trucks and autos, I have a craftsman creeper and standard automotive jack stands.
I do have two blocks 6x6x12 for when parking for the winter in the parks.
But I was told I would need to get a 7-8 inch lift and have no means for that.

Eli,

I have a 4106 driveshaft complete from the diff flange to the tranny u-joint. Problem is I'm in Atlanta.

Hopefully, Clifford's (Luvrbus) guy in Oregon will have one since he is much closer to you. If not, we can ship this one out, but it would be a while before you saw it.

Check your PM,

Bob

Elijah, I have finished with the fire trucks.  It sounds like the parts are going to be a while.  It would probably be a good idea to take the remains of the drive line out to make sure what is damaged and what is not.

If we get it out, at least we could tow the bus, if needed, with out pulling the axles.

I have a couple of 20 ton bottle jacks and lots of blocks.  I will gather up what I can and we will see how far we can get.  I have a late afternoon commitment.

If you have a phone call me at two eight three dash 21 oh oh.  It is local to Spokane and in area code 509.
Or post your number and I will call you.

Going to go load up some stuff.  One way or another will talk to you soon.

Thanks Dezi
I appreciate the sentiment.
And the spare tire info, unfortunately I am unable to funtion with my arms lifted up. My cervical disk injury would very quickly get rather antaganistic. You see we have this "don't call me I'll call you" arrangement, and um, ah,,, well ? I'd just rather not place that "collect" call if you know what I mean. We always fight. LOL
