I was checking the fuel tank to see if it had a plate to mount a fuel sender and I found what I think is a fuel sender. It has a small plastic tube running toward the back of the bus. It's cut at the back of the next bay. Can anyone identify this?

that looks like the return? but i could be mistaken.
Possibly a fuel supply for a former generrator, Webasto, ProHeat, etc.?
webasto would be only 1/8th inch pipe
Its a tiny plastic tube, but goes toward the engine compartment. The gen was in the front compartment.
When I had the fuel tank out of mine there was a regular fuel sender in the tank with a wire to it. I put in a new universal sender with the float on a rod & when I got it back together my fuel gauge worked. Don't know if it was original tho.

When I got my 4104, about 25 years ago now, there was some kind of primer setup which used small plastic tube. It had a round silver handle, about an inch in diameter, labeled "PRIMER" and was mounted on the dash. It was a sort of push-pull pump thingy. I think the end of the tube terminated in the blower housing. I never got around to checking it any further. Maybe.
I just installed a fuel sender on my 1962 4106. It goes on top of the tank. There is s small round plate about 1 &3/4" in diameter with 5 screws holding it down. You eiter have to remove the tank to install the sender or cut a hole in the floor. I chose the easier, which was to cut a hole in the floor. I got my sender from busfixx.com.
