Good morning
i have not been on in a while ,i have been out in my 1970 MCI 7 touring Black hills and yellowstone
While on my tour my alternator light started coming on and going off , the light comes on and goes off over 1500 RPM and when i turn on my marker lights it never comes on . The alternator is charging 27 volts all good there
Any help would be appreciated
Trevor
Pretty normal when the batteries are fully charged and you have no load. Drive with the headlights and markers on all the time, you won't have a problem.
Mine is the same, when the batteries are fully charged and there is no other load the No Gen light flickers, although mine only does it at idle. Scared the heck out of me when I first noticed it. There I was, 1,200 miles from home, in stop and go traffic, clutch leg is giving out, and the No Gen light starts to come on. Talk about "I don't need this right now..." ;D
Monitor your batteries and try adding a load, just because it's normal in some circumstances doesn't mean yours is normal, particularly if it's happening at high rpm, since mine only does it at idle.

Hello.
I've had this issue on my MC 5a also.
What i found was that my starter was not disengaging and being driven by the engine. The starter was running at a temperature of 190 degrees just before it burnt out... After replacing the starter and the solenoid that failed and kept the starter energized the "Not Gen" light doesent flicker on and off any more.
You might just want to make sure the starter Bendix gear is disengaging.
Chris has a good idea, but in all the yrs I have seen it happen simply putting a load on the system stops the flickering light!
