Title: The Saga continues (mci -vs- crown vic)
Post by: MattC on August 13, 2010, 06:39:19 PM
Just a quick update on the bus repairs etc..   I managed to get some actually round tires on the front of the bus and started north from Canton TX.  We spent a very nice night (hot) in Eisenhower park.  The plan is to be at Sam Caylor's place come Monday so we thought we'd take in a Tractor Show this weekend in BFE nowhere MO.

We spent last night in a city park in Fort Scott KS.  It was hotter than possible, and while hooking up the Toad the bus sunk into the pavement. After a few valiant tries at freeing her from her bus sized fly paper, we gave up and called Coach Net.   While waiting for the tow to arrive the exhaust fan for the genset lost power and I overheated my primary genset.  I hustled and got the backup genset up which worked till I tried to fire up both AC units as well as all the other stuff.  Not smart!  I got to spend the two hours wait time for the tow in the hotter than 773H bay troubleshooting the fan failure. We made a purpose built extension cord got the fan and genset running and Just as we got the bays reloaded, the tow truck arrived.

Coach Net sent a HUGE wrecker from 50 miles away and it only took a couple hours. He couldn't get the wench to free-wheel so I had to help him pull the cable SLOWLY out off the wench across my little piece of hades.  He pulled me free from the asphalt trap after a few minutes and I made a run for a gravel parking lot.

As one of the Park workers who was deriving great entertainment from my predicament said; "Looks like you have had about all the fun you can stand."  Now I'm not normally a whiner, but enough is enough!   ;)

Forget the M113, anyone have an old Titan missile silo for sale?

As someone said, You're having way too much fun!  ;D And all of this during the dog days of summer! We had 101 and more to come they say.

What brand of tire did you end up with?

Say Hi to Liz and y'all have fun, the good kind! ;)

Matt,

You know the old saying "When It Rains It Pours" It will get better. On another note did you run through Tulsa area and not give me a call  ::)

Take care,
Bryan

A:  I ended up with Firestone on the Steering.  They sank as well.  LOL. Liz doesn't seem phased by 'all the fun'  so far.

B: Nope to Tulsa but we planned swinging that way on our way down.  It was too blasted hot.  :)
