Thought I would throw this topic out to anyone, I still have the original AC compressor in my MCI-5B and want to replace it
with one of the belt driven generator heads that I have. At this time I don't have an inverter and my bus is 24Volt. What I
would like to do is to run my roof airs without using the generator. They have voltage regulators. I have used them on a Chelsae
PTO system in the past. One is 7500 WAT and the other one I believe is to be around 4500 WAT.
ANY THOUGHTS?

most generator heads will require a constant rpm. varying from that rpm even slightly will result in voltage/cycle fluctuation which is bad for the air con.
If you were referring to me, no, I have not tried that for the reason already listed. I do have an portable air compressor with a 120 volt motor installed where the OEM AC compressor was. We run our generator when on the road in hot weather from a separate fuel tank. We use .4 gallon/hour. Jack
constant rpm is the problem to controll voltage evenly...thought drive hydraulic pump off engine and use hydraulic motor to provide constant speed to gen head..more easily controlled...maybe to complicated... have to controll rpm input or someway controll voltage output from gen head at speeds from 700 rpm to 2000rpm....let us know your solution...currious minds want to know

Don't know why there is so much concern about running AC on the road directly from the genset. It is simple, easy and safe. I do it all the time. If you try to do it via inverter/batteries it just wastes power via inverter heat.
Unless you use your genset more than most it needs to be used anyway, the few hours on the road aren't going to wear it out. The biggest problem with most gensets is lack of use.
