Title: I need your measurements!!! Tow Hitch Diagram
Post by: grantgoold on August 20, 2006, 09:17:09 PM
O.K. folks I have run the searches and nothing comes up discussing someone's diagram for a tow hitch for the MCI 9. I am looking to build my own with a slip reciever. I would like comments and perhaps more importantly a diagram showing the measurements and such for an effective hitch. I plan on towing a very small toad with a stowmaster towbar.

All help is greatly appreciated.  ::)

Gumpy, thanks so much. You know I forgot just how informative your site is to those of us with 9s. Thanks so much for taking the time to document your projects.  It is amazing what you have done with your bus.

Regards,

Grant

Mine was welded in but the previous owner pulled a heavy trailer with it( he said 20k lbs).   I f I ever have to pull the engine I would probably have to cut it out.

It sits below the bumper and it dug into the pavement the one time I got stuck.  Ill have to raise the ball to tow my truck.

If you can, cut a hole through the bumper and make it removable.

if you can wait till next week I'll take a picture of mine.

We expect full report on what you come up with :)

Here's another idea.  It works fine...so far.  I haven't stuck it into anything yet!
It's a pretty good bit off the ground when the bus is aired up.  It would be the first thing to hit if in a big dip or some such thing.
