I have a 671 inline with a cracked exhaust manifold. This unit was welded 7 years ago. A thought passed through my cranium so I'm sharing it with you.
Will the exhaust manifolds from a 6V71 fit my inline 671, allowing me two smaller and lighter manifolds and duel exhaust?
The theory would be, two smaller manifolds would be easier to install, be less likely to crack, and the duel exhaust would breath better and I might not have to do this in another 7 years.
If not I'll need a 671 inline exhaust manifold, and a truss...Cable
Many of the later 4104's had split manifolds. You could use either a 3-71, 6V-71, 6V-92, 12V-92 manifolds, as long as they are 3 cylinder manifolds. Then either Y them into your single muffler, or get two 3-71 mufflers. Good Luck, TomC
That's what my 4104 has.
But I don't think they are left and right.
They are both the same.
John ;D
John; Do you have dual exhaust or does it Y into 1 muffler? Are you able to get pictures, or a diagram? I'd like to see the plumbing...Cable
Mine is also two manifolds and two mufflers. I have a few photos I can send you I took when I replaced the stock mufflers with two better made, smaller ones from JCW and some welding.
Too bad I didn't know about this in May-June when I was in Edmonds for a month. My sun works at Boeing in Everett.
Let me know your email address if you want the photos.
If I had to work on the exhaust system on a 4104, I think I would finally get around to building an engine stand and pulling the engine assembly. It has to be easier then trying to do it in place.
