Hey Folks:
Noticed today that when I put on my turn signal it stays on and will not flash. Same goes for the
hazard lights.
I have a 1990 Prevost LeMirage. Having a heck of a time finding the control that makes
these lights function.
Is there any Prevost owners who can help me pin point the location and where I can buy
a new flasher control?
Thanks,
Tully Lee
My flasher is in the electrical panel below the drivers slider window.
Hey Joe,
I opened the outside panel just below the drivers side slide window. There was a break down on an illustration and showed it as D19 I think. However, could not locate it. Is this going to be a round
like in a car? Just curious. If all else fails I will post a picture...
Second, is this going to be a "Prevost" only part or interchange with a normal automobile style flasher?
Thanks for the reply,
Tully
I think thats where mine is too but I have an 83. Let me go look at the drawing in the door
Front panel on my '81 too. And just a plain old ordinary auto flasher.
I was wrong. I went out and looked and mine is under the dash. It is just hanging so I don't know if it is the origanal or not but it is a tridon the only part # I see is 2986c and it is clear. It looks like a fancy automotive but I think it should be 24v. it says it should be on a 20amp fuse.
Thanks for the fast replies folks! I am going to double check this when I get back to the bus in
the A.M. Im guessing it is just the flasher. The lights come on...
Will dig a little further and update ya!
Thanks,
Tully Lee
Tully: I have a 92 XL and mine is hanging under the right side dash about 10 inches above the gas pedal. Mine is round/clear 12 volt 20 amp runs off circuit breaker#46 in the front junction box. In some Prevost wiring diagrams, it's listed as Relay#77 and spec'd as under dash. Thanks for making me look, I too have learned today! ;D Gerry H
Go to NAPA or truck parts supplier and get a "heavy duty" one it'll last forever!
If you just put a cheapie one in from the walmart auto parts places it'll probaly go bad in no time again!
FWIW ;D BK ;D
One bad bulb will cause this to happen on one side and, for the first time ever, I had it happen just recently on both sides at the same time. My van, on which this happened, had been sitting for three months.
This is usually caused by corroded positive bulb contacts, I have to clean some of mine every two years or so.
If you call prevost tech support they will give the location of the flasher - provide parts, operation and maintenace books for your model and set up an account for you to purchase parts with free shipping - HTH
Before anything else though, do what Gus said--check the bulbs.
I had the same issue in my '90 Prevost. I had water trapped in the side marker covers. I removed the covers and dryed them out. Sprayed WD40 and then put in new bulb grease. It would work and then go on solid again. I could not find a round flasher anywhere. I eventually found a solid state flasher under the dash mounted near the steering column. It had the standard plug and I replaced it with standard round flasher. It was worked fine for two years.
Good luck,
John
All good info guys. Well the flashers started working again and the hazard lights. However then went back to its old ways of just staying on with solid light and no flash. I am going to
go over my manuals when I have time and place a call to Prevost Elgin.
On another note, this is the least of my worries no as I "Kissed" a light pole with the bus last night. Another thread for that one....
