Title: ? for Brian Diehl about clutch pedal
Post by: rusty on July 27, 2010, 02:40:19 PM
Brian, I am installing an Auto shift in my 15 and I need to add a clutch. Do you remeber what vehicle your clutch pedal came out of.

Thank You Wayne

Hi Wayne,

My clutch pedal has been highly customized!  It came out of the freightliner I got the engine from.  I shortened the pedal, shortened the rod and shaft it acuated on and changed the alignment and position of the arm attached to the rod.  So, in short, it isn't anything like what I started with.  However, having it available meant I was able to get a great framework to start with and I did not have to figure out how to get a hardened steel shaft and appropriately sized bushing to work with.  I had those and just customized the heck out of them!

I had posted on the board before I started to see if anyone had the clutch pedal assembly from their bus from a conversion to an automatic.  I think that would have been the best place to start if anyone had one available.  Maybe a pedal assembly from a manual powered eagle 15 would be a good place for you to start?  I wish I had thought to call Caylor Supply back when I was doing my work.  Is there an equivalent source for used Eagle parts?

I wish you the best!

Thank You Brian, A 15 with a clutch is a bit of a rare bird. I will also have to do a bunch of modification as I am using Volvo master and slave cylinder. But I am using eagle parts for the air assist. I was looking at your work and I think I would like to use the same clutch pedal as you did. It looks like a good place to start.

Thank You again Wayne
