Interesting auction.
It looks like Chad is pretty set on selling this coach only to someone who will restore it rather than convert it.
He is active on the Scenicruiser Yahoo group, but not sure he comes over here.

By listing it on eBay, he no longer gets to make that decision, notwithstanding his verbiage in the listing about being "picky" about who buys it. Once someone has placed a legitimate bid, he's make a contract to sell it. What the buyer does with it afterward is none of his business, as they say. eBay looks very unkindly upon sellers who cancel bids without just cause.
That said, I don't think it will sell at that price. If he really thinks it's that collectible, he should clean it up and run it down to Barrett-Jackson in January.

That bus at Coach Maintenance is immaculate. I don't know how long ago that picture was taken but when I was there just a couple of weeks ago that one was parked inside and just about completed. Ted showed me some pretty amazing stuff that he is doing there. Of course, I was almost as thrilled finding a cash of FC Jeeps as I was the old buses.
I didn't take any pictures of any of the coaches that were inside, but this is the one that is parked by the door and about to get started.

Dale, I took that in 2007 I think, or early 2008. Ted sure has a bunch of stuff parked all over the place. This was another he was working on at the time.

I don't think the seller has to worry about anyone buying his bus for a band bus, motorhome, or anything like that at the price listed. Anyone willing to pay $65,000 for a band bus or a conversion shell would likely buy something newer. A band looking for an old bus wants something dirt cheap usually.
The only ones interested in this bus at that price would have to be wealthy private collectors, a museum, or a bus company wanting a historic bus to run. I know there are a number of bus companies out there with restored older coaches they use for company events or special occasions.
Paul, both of those buses are still there. Ted does great restorations and he takes his time and does it right. Both of those are parked inside now.
All it takes is 1 buyer . . . & Chad has a gift for finding well funded buyers. ;)
As for as what happens to it - he needs to keep it if he is concerned about it's future. It is still a free country, so whom ever meets his price can say whatever they want to seal the deal & then change their intent after the transaction has closed. . . That is the benefit of ownership. ;D
As for me, I think it should have been preserved as the Acme Ski Team bus. That was a noble tribute to how these buses were still used long after retirement from Greyhound service.
I probably should have bid on that one the last time it was on ebay. . . . .
