Last year my Norcold fridge would only work in the freezer and not cool the rest.I was advised to remove it and turn it upside down for 24 hours which I did. It worked fine the rest of the year.
Now it is doing the same thing. Does this become a regular routine when these things get older?
Thanks
Fred
No! You are lucky it worked once with a Norcold. They are fine till they aren't. You can replace the absorbsion unit for $450. Any one can swap out one of those. Clifford's guy extends a 5 year warranty....or did. Free shipping and I kid you not.
Thank Clifford,
John
I have an old Norcold and have done some research on this problem.
It seems that if the frige is operated when tilted (The amount of tilt seems to be debatable) it has this problem. Turning it upside down is supposed to cure the problem if it has not been operated too long tilted and not too serious.
The tilt is only a problem side to side for the frige, which means bus front to back for most conversions.
The reason for this is the drain back coils in the rear are Z shaped and won't drain properly if tilted.
There is a lot of discussion on this subject in the archives and probably on the Norcold website.
Let us know how and if you solve the problem.

I'm inclined to agree with dallas, I've always been partial to a regular house style refrigerator, I realize the advantages of being able to switch between 12 volt, propane and electric but we've had such good luck with the house style that I endorse that type not only for dependability but also for replacement cost when needed.
