Title: Onan 7.5 repair cost
Post by: beatsworkin on July 07, 2010, 07:30:37 PM
I have a 7.5 Onan Quiet diesel generator with about 400 hours on it and it is about 8-10 years old.  It has been running great until 10 days ago when it shut down when running two a/c.  Checked all fluids restarted it but could only run one a/c. I got home did not think about it till I was ready to leave again.  It started right up ran with both a/c on for about 15 min then quit.  This time it would not start ( would not turn over ) but you could hear the fuel pump.  So took the Bus to Dealer.  Dealer called today to say that some magnets have come loose, damaged the stator and something else and estimate is $ 2750.00 to fix.  I asked why would the magnets fly out with only 400 hours on the unit.  They said that they have seen several units like mine that have done this. Onan is using different supplyer now

Can someone give me some advice?
