We had a S&S pull in a few weeks ago that had some vinyl covers over his wiper blades. Well that got my brain a workin'! I had thought of using those noodles you see in the stores for kids playing in the pool and thought it was a pretty good idea. While I was discussing my idea (light bulb moment) with Doug he said why not use the foam insulation used on water pipes. So that's what I did! Cost a mere 97 cents and took less than one minute to install.
I know most of you park your coach in an enclosed building, but ours sits out in the hot Texas sun. I had put on new blades earlier this year I got from NAPA, it wasn't cheap!

We used to do that and only stopped due to laziness. Tire covers are another thing that I get too lazy to keep up with.

You're right. UV does deteriorate the insulation. Painting them would slow that though. Also they are easy to replace periodically. They will stick to the windshield if left in place long enough, so it is good to move them once in a while also.
There are two types of that insulation. The soft rubber kind (that I know will harden with sun exposure over time) and the open cell synthetic kind. I wonder if the open cell synthetic type deteriorate as much in the sun? And they might not be as likely to stick over time.
But even if they have to be replaced periodically, the material is cheap and the r/r would be take all of a few seconds each.
I still like the idea a lot.

We had tennis balls to help keep the blades straight. Wife didn't like the look! ;D These are more to her liking, go figure! I figure for the price, what the heck. ::) We do use the tire covers when parked for long periods, seems like we are always parked that way. :'(
Don't know how old my wipers are, but i have had the bus for 7 years on Oct. 1st and have never changed them or done anything to them. They work just fine. Dick Wright did give me a set at BUS'N USA last week, maybe i will put them on soon. ;D
I have been using the pool toys for a little over 3 years. They were a bright orange when they were new, but now are a bright yellow ;D. I put them on when I replaced the wiper blades and my blades still work like the day I bought them. Except for fading, they haven't deteriorated in the least. One wasn't long enough to do both blades so I had to splurge an extra buck and buy two. That set me back, but all is good, Will ;D
I told Paul about the write up in the FMCA rag for July where someone in Lake Worth Fl had those in the tech section just so you guys don't think I am bashing Paul.
