We have had a lot of trouble with the power tech we have and it now has some major issues. Would like to find a good one that will hold up to a lot of use. We are in Memphis right now, and it is too hot to be with out. Trying to find one in the area.

Really wanted to buy one from engine power source, but we are pretty desperate too in this heat.

Ruthi, just my 2 cents worth but the way you travel and work I would buy a Onan they have the best service network of any on the market and they are not a bad generator plus most Cummins dealers are open till midnight everyday with a good parts department for Onans

good luck

Oh, and just a side note, to stick the knife in deeper, one of the air conditioners went out. Ken knows what is wrong with it, but no one will sell him parts without a liscense. :-\

You are right. Winter we will be in the new bus, we will see how that goes. WE dont have cold that bad, but we sure have the heat. Temperature rises real fast when the power goes out.

Ruthi,
We are minutes off exit 108 on I-40 if there is anything we can help with. It's a busy time for us, but I'll do what I can.

Also Hendersonville is a suburb of Nashville. FWIW

Thanks for the offers. I dont know what is needed. We have a power tech, it is leaking oil like crazy, and every so often it blows smoke and bogs down. Timing sucks, we are in the process of painting new bus, lots of money, and the central air in the house just went out, and had to replace, again, big money, and now this, oyyyy. Roof air needs a part.  Wont be home til not this sat. but the next saturday. Dont know if it will keep running. I thought it was a 10k but hubby says it s a 12k powertech. Probably needs parts.
Any one has ideas can call him at four 78 four 56 three 3 56.

Hi rRuthi,

I just spoke with Ken. I gave him the part numbers for the "hard start" kit for the Duo-therm. Sounds as if the rear main is leaking on the genset. The black smoke when the generators gets loaded is most likely a clogged air filter. I am doing some research on some gensets for him. He should be able to get the kit for the air conditioner at a RV service center, if not I will pick one up for him and ship it tomorrow. If you guys need anything else Ken has my new number.

I'm surprised at all the issues with a Powertech.  Onan is used in lots of diesel pushers, but there are lots of horror stories about them probably because there are so many of them in use.  Craig Shephard AKA Gumpy can tell you how much the parts for his Onan cost.

If it was me I would choose something like a Wrico generator built with relays instead of electronics.  Other than that, a good commercial mobile unit instead of RV unit might be a goog choice based on your nearly 24x7 usage.  You put more hours on your generator in a year or even a few months than most do in a lifetime.
