This is a reminder for the "July 4th gathering at The Cove".
http://www.palmettocove.com/ (http://www.palmettocove.com/)
Nothing planned except shared meals - covered dish/ pot luck. No rally fee & no reservations required (campground is never full due to the requirement 'rigs must be fully self contained').
(edited to add- self contained means you have your own bathroom & cooking facilities)
Just a laid back weekend with friends in the mountains of South Carolina.
I will be there late Friday (7/2) & probably stay thru Monday.
I will try to bring my water bottle rocket launcher, so bring empty 2 liter soda bottles to make rockets with & we can have a little fun with that if desired.
Post here if you can make it & if there is something you'd like to do or see - let it be known here so there is time to work out some details.
Hope to see a bunch of y'all there! ;D
I am always in the middle of a project when Palmetto Cove time comes around. If I can get my latest project buttoned up I would like to make the trip. Any idea on who all might show up?
A bunch of airstreamers are looking forward to seeing the bus nuts again, so they will be there, many in their 'bus like' motorhomes. ;)
There are several who are working out the details of their schedule before they commit, but I'm sure it will be a fun crowd!
I have the back glass out and I am trying to get it skinned this weekend. I would love to get back up there.

Duct Tape
;D ;D ;D ;D
Define 'fully self contained'. The site advertises '100 full hookup' sites.
Fully self contained basically means you have your own bathroom & cooking facilities.
The Cove is designed as a rally park and has no bath house. As a result, DHEC requires the campers to be self contained.
All sites have electric (minimum of 30A & some 50A), fresh water, & sewer.
Count Debi and I in.
It looks like we should be there also Kyle, as always we look forward to attending anything at this campground. The grand kids will love being in the water at the stream behind the pavilion.
NOTE, those attending with puppies etc. please pick up after they do their duties, this is so respectful to those wanting to walk around and use this beautiful facility, it is always kept so beautiful there and this is our way to help them also. My personal thanks on this.
Hope many of you can come, look forward to seeing some of the regulars that show up the past 3-4 years nearly.
Gary
But Gary, ours have 'special poop'!LOL We are amazed at the folks that don't pick up after them. Especally the great danes that leave something bigger than our entire dogs.
Ours have calmed somewhat, it is still a work in progress. We hope to make it there...would love to see you and yours.
Jack
Just talked to Dianne, we will be there Friday afternoon, leaving Sunday or Monday.
Looking forward to it!
Any 'Special requests'?
Jack

Unfortunately, we will not be able to make this one. Maybe we can make your October Non Rally. For anyone that has not been there, this is one of the most beautiful parks we have ever been to. Be sure to drive up to the top of Ceasar's Head (In Your Car!) and you can look down at the park from the top of the mountain. Jack
Kyle,
I live a long way off, never fret i am self contained, i have a tent, a cot ,a ice chest, a grill, and a candle, i will be there. LILa

Without a restroom you'll have to hold it until you get home. :o :D I guess that means self contained too ;) ;D
I'm bringing a BBQ pork shoulder to share for one of the meals.
Anyone have some sides they'd like to have with it?

Newbee,
Now that you've got your tire situation straightened out, are y'all gonna be there? Your grill will be a welcome guest ;D
If we get enough ice, we might be able to have some home made ice cream . . . .
Kyle,
Looks like I just might make it this year. Got a lot to accomplish this weekend but I have most of the work laid out and ready to go. Got an initial head count yet?
I figgure there will be over 20 units there - including some tin turds (Airstreams). ;D

I knew it, your so shallow :D Anyway we may be able to check with the grill's manager to see if it can be scheduled in for a showing :)
Jack Conrad scouted the river from the bridge near the reservoir back to the Cove. I wonder if it is OK for tubing? Would be a fun convenient run. Opinions Jack?
Do the hookups at the Cove have cable?

Do the hookups at the Cove have cable?
No, but there is wireless internet available ;D
So, Are y'all gonna be able to make it?
Kyle
Kyle
I will be heading up sometime in the morning. Anything in particular we need to bring for the shared meals?
The plan is to bring what you want & we'll eat together - to share or not is your choice.
If something else looks better than what I brought, I'm definitely sharing. ;D
Buddydawg, I'll be there in the afternoon. Looking forward to seeing everyone! ;D ;D ;D ;D
I am fixin' Speedies as I type this! ;D

So, who is gonna clean the keyboard? Yuck! :o ::) ;D
Dogs licked it clean as a fiddle! ::)
We are leaving in the morning, should be there in the 3ish range!
Sure do wish i was at the cove.
I don't know how Kyle will make it with out my expertise.
Also who will kill all the mosquitoes.
and help JR with the adult beverages
uncle ned
Uncle Ned, We did not get to go,even though Patsy and I had planned to go. Our oldest daughter went into labor at 12:00 Thursday night and didn't have the baby until 2:53 Friday afternoon.
The baby weighed 7lbs 5 oz, both are doing okay. We really needed the break to go camping, but now we need sleep.
Hopefully we will make it to the next one. Hope everyone camping at the cove has great 4th of July.
Until the next rally,
Glen and Patsy Rice
The weekend was a blast! Saw some old friends & met some new ones.
Buddydawg - Thanks for the laughs! I'm still laughing at the "4 choices " - you need to write those stories down!
Tara - It was a pleasure meeting you, good luck keeping him straight. Hayden was a delight to have around!
Thanks Ed & Ann, as always your help was invaluable - the biscuts were GREAT (I didn't burn them, that oven cooks hot) BTW, Happy Anniversary, I wish you many more!
Gary did his usual good job providing entertainment.
Bob & Debbie - thanks for helping get the ice cream done.
Jack's chicken speedies were GREAT & Dianne's desert treats were delicious.
Sad it couldn't have lasted longer.
To those who missed it, you sure did miss a good one, hope to see y'all soon.
Kyle
We had a blast, it was like Kyle said, GREAT to meet new friends and reaqaint with old ones, (Leroy and Lila, you two aint old!)
The food was GREAT! Period.
It is fun watching the othe groups acclimate to us and see how to really live!
For those who have not experienced Palmetto Cove...do it!
Kyle, do you have dates for the October Rally, (Non-Rally?)
Jack
Jackie and I are sooo sorry we weren't able to make this gathering but when the bus won't start...it just won't start. I need to buy new start batteries but I need help to remove them and install the new ones. Getting old isn't what I planned on when I started this Bus thing.
I go to the Orthopaedic guy tomorrow to see if I need a new hip. It's always something. New A/C's, new gear box, new batteries and only God knows what else.
Keep you fingers crossed for me tomorrow...and let's hope I'll be back on both legs soon.
Glad you all had a great time...I'll honestly try not to miss the next one and I'll bring some of that NC breakfast sausage you all love.
Jackie & Bob
Missed you and your Bride Bob.
Have said a Prayer for you, Jackie and all the folks that will be lookin' at you tomorrow!
Jack
We had a great time! It was good to see some familiar faces and meet some new ones. It really makes the work and effort put into the bus worth it when you get to spend the weekend at a great place with great people.
The weekend was a blast! Had a chance to get so much needed rest. Enjoyed meeting new friends and reacquaint with old ones.
Jack's chicken speedies were GREAT & Dianne's desert treats were delicious. And we got the secrets on them.
Looking for the Oct Rally, keep us updated on the dates
Bob & Debi
The Non-Rally is the second weekend in October. 8)
This year, it October 7th thru the 10th. Early arrivals welcome, my current plans are to be there on the 4th.
See y'all there. ;D
