Post by: robertglines1 on June 16, 2010, 01:36:08 PM
???A friend just called..He's on road and his 90 prevost 8V92 DDecII just started emitting black smoke...I told him easiest first ck air cleaner..2nd turbo(exhaust to turbo leak)--then blower----then injector--any other quick checks one can think to help diagnose problem..

Black smoke is always not enough air. Check turbo piping for a loose joint or hole. Could be turbo itself but probably not. Suggest he pull exhaust pipe at the turbo and check that turbo wheel is attached and spins freely without slop.

Good luck
Bill

If he blew a injector tip on his 8v92 it will blow plenty of black smoke from over fueling that 1 cylinder

good luck
