Title: Oil leakage question
Post by: Charles in SC on June 15, 2010, 06:00:09 PM
My bus has an 8V-71, it is very tight and does very little in the way of marking its territory. My question is do the other detroit bus engines have a reputation for oil leaks or are they tight?

There is no reason for the leaks just fix the leaks they are not hard to repair I have never owned a DD that had leaks. The 53 series is a different story

good luck

My dad used to tell me all the time that if a 8v71 isn't leaking oil, it isn't a good running engine and something is wrong with it!

OTOH, my 8v92 leaks a little but appears to run good, so far!

My 6V92 just doesn't leak, it's frustrating, I have to find MCI's to follow or I wouldn't have any rustproofing at all lol. All buses have thier own weaknesses I guess lol.  (oops did I say that? lol)
