I have figured out how to turn the defroster on. I do this by pulling the cord under the dash. I was very hard to pull. Now that has worked i can't turn it off. I have it pushed in but it still lets hot air in the cab. There is also a lever next to it that flips some kind of damper. I can't really tell but I think it switches the heat to my feet. Does this bus have a vent?
On the 4104, the fresh air intake is in front behind the nameplate. I assume the '06 is similar.
MadMike,
More than likely what's happens is the water flow control valve was stuck shut from infrequent use. When you you pulled the knob, it opened. More force can be applied when pulling on the cable than pushing on the cable.
You'll need to remove the panel to get access to the valve and use pliers to turn it off. The cable probably popped off too.
If you decided to work the valve to get it to work, take note that it will likely start to leak.
Good luck!
Take the cover off and you will see what needs to be done. A stiff valve will cause the cable to get pushed out of the cable clamp and cause the condition you described. The leaver at your knee operates the fresh air vent located below the front windows. While you have the cover off you can see how it functions and lube it if you want to.
you guys have heat?i cant get mine to work, looks like it is looped in the front right cargo hold,
I took the cover off and I can see how the vent works. But the header cord goes down and i think i will need to go under the bus to figure out where it leads to.
