Title: it's been 10 years
Post by: David Anderson on June 08, 2010, 06:05:08 PM
Sitting here browsing the board and just realized on May 31, I've owned my Houston Metro Eagle 10 for ten years.  I remember backing that heap into my my south Texas back yard on Memorial Day back in 2000.  Boy did I get some "what is that?" looks from the neighbors back then.  It only got worse as I dismantled the beast.  Nobody even knows it's there now.  It's part of the neighborhood landscape.  They all notice when we are gone, though.

It's been a great experience being a busnut and I've met a lot of new friends and traveled close to 60,000 miles.  That's 10k gallons of diesel, thereabouts, if anyone is counting.  Let's not figure the cost, just remember all the memories we've made during our travels, priceless :D

Hopefully the next 10 years will be as good or better than the last.

David

It is funny you mention this.  Reading your post I realized I also picked up my 4104 in May of 2000, and we just passed the 10 year milestone as well.   What long strange trip it's been ...  ;D

Looks like you'll have even a better decade after getting all that hard work behind you! Bus's are not for the faint of heart or mechanically challanged. But for those that can they are nothing but pure joy............at times! Congrats on the milestone!

What I can't believe is that I've owned my bus for 17 years.  Bought it in 1993, brought it home in 1994 and completed the conversion in 2000.  Time marches on!  Good Luck, TomC

We've had our Eagle since November 2003, and it's still not finished! :P

I still have another 3+ years to catch up to ya David! ;)

Oh the memories!

It has been 2 years of mechanical mayhem ;D, just started the de-construction phase. Now if only my heart holds out ;D ;D, but over all it has been a joy and we look forward to the good times and meeting new busnuts. This hobby is every thing I was looking for and then some, congrats on the 10 year mark Dave.

We brought ours home in December 2007. I has sat in the driveway ever since. I got insurance and a movement permit Monday and drove it about 60 miles. Talk about smiling ear to ear ::) is it raining yet Gumpy. Now need to fix diaphragm leak and get plates by Friday. When I brought it back home after test drive the neighbor hood looked different without out it there. The neighbors took notice that it actually will drive and not just idle.

I purchased this bus in Nov of 2004, its hard to believe I've been working this long on a "six month" project, I've learned alot........especially that my estimating is just a tad off!.........somewhere in the future this project will be finished.........by someone, hopefully that's me!
