Title: Before and after pics
Post by: Chopper Scott on June 06, 2010, 06:09:32 PM
You won't mistake my old 7 for a Prevost but I am trying to spruce it up some. Anyways I've been coming home with a black face lately and some of you know what that entails. The po had an aluminum painted bumper that was rather ratty looking so I had a stainless one bent up and polished it and then the rear ss of the bus. Not mirror perfect but a huge improvement.

Next on the list will be the window awnings but they may have to wait until I have more time. I don't need them just laying around in boxes until I can find time later this summer.

Scott, that dark, dark dirt from polishing takes about as much time to clean off as it does getting on you!   Nice job..........the bumper was well made.......what thickness of stainless did you end up using for the bumper.......?

I used 16 gauge Pat. I had my steel supplier bend it for me and kept the drop as I want to do some other stuff with the tailights. I did ask that if there was a good side to the sheet to put that on the outside. When I got it they had done exactly the opposite.  >:( The inside was perfect and the outside looked like it had been drug down a gravel road!!!! A lot more work!! Sometime I'll get around to getting more pics up in Photobucket or such Gary. I'm what one would call computer challenged at some things!!! ;D  Thanks for the compliments...... even from you Newbee!! ;D

Hi Scott,
WOW! Looks really good. Do you know what model bus your taillight assemblies are from?
Thanks, Sam MC8

Scott, when you order stainless ask for the polish grade and make sure the good side is plastic coated and protected when it gets to you.    Same goes for any nice grade of aluminum, some fabricators know the difference,  if they don't find a new supplier.  I have a precut sheet for the front of my prevost that I haven't put on yet, its a 16 gauge, mirror polished sheet, it came packed in 3/4" plywood with steel bands around it!  This is a super #8 mirror finish.   The supplier was this link here, the guy was excellant to work with!

Pat, I did ask but my supplier didn't have it so being the real smart guy I am I did it the hard way.  ::) I have now idea what lights I have Sam. They were there from the po. They really don't look like somebody did something custom but then again they don't look like something that was original. I'll be doing something different down the road with led's since I already have done the 24 volt to 12 volt relays for the trailer. When does this ever end!!!! :D

The stripes are Dupont's chrome illusion Bill. They change colors as you walk around it.
