Title: power steering success!
Post by: bevans6 on June 03, 2010, 11:24:37 AM
Well, it's done!  rebuilt pump that I paid way too much for is in, new hoses are installed, it's full of fresh oil, it's quiet and doesn't leak, and the wheels turn when i turn the steering wheel, which it never did at a standstill before, that's for sure!

Yes, there are tricks to this, but once you know the one about lining up the slots so the pump can come off, it's straightforward wrench-turning.

Thanks to the people who offered advice, I would have not got this done without you.  Now I can move the bus and park it elsewhere so the excavator and dump trucks can get in and build my new septic system, which is my vacation money for the next five years being spent on a smelly hole in the ground ruining my back yard.  Such is the price of living in the country...

Don't get to "comfy".  It may still fail prematurely and you won't be sure of that for a long long time. ;D

Gloom and doom. Bro ;D
