What do you all think. We have a Sealand 510 toilet. It is less then a year old, and we are having issues with it.
The ball doesn't make a good seal, most of the time. Often we have to lift up on the pedal to get the ball to make a full seal (this happens all the time).
In addition that that, the pedal mechanism randomly fails. I have to disassemble the assembly, several times, to get the pedal connected up the ball again. This happens every couple of days.
Anyways, do you all think it is a lemon? Should we try to get warranty repair, or is the Sealand 510 an inherently "bad" toilet, and we should get another.

John, every bus I have owned I always install a Microphor they cost a few bucks more but give you no problems www.microphor.com (http://www.microphor.com)

Iam with Clifford, John we have a micophor and aside from the fact I had to learn how it works I have had no problems with it, Ours is air operated but Clifford said I can convert it to 12 volt . They are very well built and you can read a long time lol FWIW
We have had two Sealand toilets thru the years and never had any problem. Sounds like a lemon (no scent, of course). I love the way gravity works, and it's absolutely free.

It sounds like you have a lemon. But don't try try to make lemonade out of that yellow water. LOL My approach would be to try warranty service. They may just give you a new operating mechanism and your problem will be over. Or they may give you a whole new toilet.
I personally don't like the Microphor because of the amount of water they use. That may not be a factor for you depending on how you use your bus.

I am of no assistance (Microphor owner) other than to suggest that you call their tech support. I say this as my unit leaked, I pulled the unit, dissasembled, reinstalled, repeat leak. I had all the instructions. I called and discussed the need for a better sealant, 5600 between the bowl/flapper and the "drop out box". Now no leaky.
I offer as another set of "eyes". I agree there are other fine units out there, However a 1 yo product should continue to operate & perform.

I think we will see if we can get a replacement toilet, first (that is the cheapest option :D). We will see what happens from there.
I was curious if others had the same problems that we do, with the Sealand 510. I guess time will tell if Sealand helps us out, and what they cover in the warranty.
If that doesn't take care of the issue, then we will look at other options. We might go the Microphor route then.

My experience with Sealand was more than 12 years ago, but at that time they fell all over themselves to help me out and no charges.
