while i was at sams they had 11r22.5 for 279.oo out the door they dont mount them they were steer tires 16 ply was wondering for the price if it was ok the miles i log on the bus is around8-9000 miles thts on the high side have any input on these?
charlie
I didn't think the 11R22.5 was an approved fitment for an MCI-8.
Most likely, this tire does not have the load capacity you need. It is also a smaller diameter than the stock 12R22.5 tire, so your top speed will be lower.
Can't tell you if that's a good deal or not without a brand name...

Another concern that we had was the tires at our Sam's were not very fresh. I don't remember how old they were but it was worth noting. Good luck, Denis
Swing by your Sam's club and see if they will show them to you. Write down the numbers off the DOT stamp and report back here. We'll help you decode them to tell you where they were manufactured and how old they are.
What is wrong with a tire a couple of years old that has never been mounted and kept inside in a controlled environment ? I know they have a limit on years that they can be sold as new after that time frame they are sold as blemishes tires
good luck
thanks guys sams said they had to order them and it would be about a week
but i will go there tomorrow and write down the brand name
charlie
The Sam's where I live sells BF Goodrich, Firestone and Chinese made Michelin's in 22.5 and 24.5 truck tires
good luck

There are chemical process that take place in tires that begin when they are manufactured. Keeping them in a protected environment, particularly out of sunlight, is benefical. But it only slows and does not stop the aging process. Actually having them mounted and driving on them is in some ways helpful in prolonging their life. Driving distributes oils within the rubber helping slow some of the aging process.
Given the limited amount of driving many of us do in our buses, most of us will have our tires die of old age before they wear out. I wouldnt worry too much if the Sam's Club tires were 6 months or a year old. But if they have more than 2 years on them I'd start to question whether some fresher tires might be the better deal.
Once again- please remember that tires are much more then just big round rubber things that hold air and supports the bus. Tread pattern is very important to traction. The most important function of tires is the ability to stop the bus. PLEASE stay with name brand tires and correct tire model for your application. Stopping ability difference of just one inch can make the difference between hitting and not hitting something. Good Luck, TomC
Back in 2006 I looked at the Sam's Club tires in the large sizes we need. At the time they only had one brand and I'm thinking it was not a name brand. Things could very well have changed since then.

Just curious what part of this is attractive to you? Consider:
1) You have to pay a big-tire shop to mount them
2) They only have the steer tires, so that's 2 out of 8, and you need a big-tire shop for the others
If you want NEW tires, you would be FAR FAR FAR better off checking the local tire places and truck repair shops. They will be fresher tires, and if you aren't in a hurry you can wait until they have a sale running.
If you just want BETTER tires, check tire shops for use tires, and also call truck and bus COMPANIES -- many of them replace tires by the set after a specific time frame, to satisfy their insurance companies. They will sell those tires at a good price, because otherwise they have to pay to dispose of them! Also, if they don't do their own changes, they will send you to the shop which does, who will consider you "adopted" by their good customer, and treat you well.
You want to develop a good relationship with your tire vendor. Bringing him Sam's Club tires is like taking Sam's Club beef to a steakhouse.
bg6,
your right with your thought i will do that in the long run i will be better .... of
thanks
You can run steering tires in all positions. How many run traction tires on your car? Good Luck, TomC
