that is much less than a seated coach of that vintage and appears to have raised roof...
And a 30KW generator - go into business supplying electricity to small towns!
Brian
I like the 43 ft and the 7 speed Allison thing myself
good luck
Clifford,
I am shocked and disappointed. I thought for sure that you personally knew this bus. Did it sneak by you, or did you simply ignore it because it has a Series 60?
Nope don't know that one Lin but you can bet your last buck if it was a good buy Martin at Texas Coach in Pipe Creek Tx would be all over it right there next to them. And you are right the 60 series don't impress me much
good luck
40 ft 72000 miles if its runnin not a bad deal.....
Read all the ad Bob he says 43 ft and 7 speed Allison in one place and I would not take the 72000 miles to heart either
good luck
was counting bay doors as to length...I think its one short of a 45...I think the ad person is a sticks and staples person...is his mis info good for him or for prospective buyer(with knowledge)?
He has no idea what he selling 30kw generator and a 600hp 12.7 that is a big boy, it does have a extra band like you say it has a raised roof wonder if it is a factory raise something just doesn't look right with the top band
good luck
Chances are the roof might not be raised ...above my side windows there is 14 inches with the raised roof..the more I thought about it I made a mistake...If it were a 40 ft passanger coach it would come with a 400 hp 12.7 60 series the xle and xlmth were 470 hp...could be angle of picture...
Looked at this today and in fact just got home from looking, It was placed on consignment at this place and the ad was placed from information the dealer got from PO. It is not any of those things. What it is is a 1981 LeMirage with roof raise. I am not sure what the generator is because I could not get it out far enogh to look at head. I has a 4 cylinder zex something diesel(Read Chinese) The powerplant is a Very sick 6V92. Blows black and blue smoke even after running fifty miles. With pedal on floor would do 55 on flat land and went downhill with ant hill. Temps ran at 190 and tried to go higher but kept shifting down to keep RPMs up. Generator started with out problems but only one of four roof tops cooled at all and that not much. Has some rust issues around side windows Drivers windshield with large crack large rock chip in passenger windshield. Baggage doors misaligned bags on right side do not air up Interior is worthless several vents in roof for whatever reason no longer connected to anything will have to be closed and sealed up. Batteries were shot with bulging sides were replaced with Group 31's to get started than had to jump solenoid in battery compartment . Made an offer and will see how it goes. Drove very nicely except for lack of power and all the smoke. Oh Tires are weather cracked and checked and the place it was at just changed the oil and you guessed it they put Rotella 15w-40 in it.
The listing has been deleted. The more ads I see with the hyped wording I'm so glad I got lucky when I bought my iggle, the guy was a guy by the name if Jim Schiek in wisconsin and he was as honest as the day is long, he told me everything I could ever want to know, showed me everything I wanted to see and even trusted me with the bus while I made a few payments to him, course he held the title but I had the bus and took it to a different state, michigan. Jim converts and sells buses and I would buy another one from him in a heartbeat, he likes iggles and had several of them. He even showed me listings of other buses from other dealers so he made sure I was aware of the fact that buses were all over the place, not just in his yard, he even told me about Bus Conversions magazine.
Yeah it was sold but the guy couldn't drive it through SanAntonio so he took it to an RV repair place left and cancelled the check he wrote for it. It is now back at the original place because I drove it there for the trial drive.
That's the trouble with dreaming. Eventually you wake up.
Rod, I'm amazed to read you are taking a crack at one, it's been a long jouney huh. Good Luck and hope things fall your way. It would be fun to see you at TBR with a coach this time! ;) How far is it away from your house?
Paul
It is about 130miles. It will need alot of work but if they take my offer it will still be a good deal. Will be stel tenting for TBR if they do.
all that black smoke and lack of power could be as simple as a air cleaner or bad as a blower..
I found out Thursday Martin offered 5gs for that that bus for parts so you need to be over 5 Ron he also told me it has quite a bit of rust at the rear common for that year model
good luck
I looked real hard for rust issues and really only saw surface rust except around the lower part of the windows. Some on inside where the roof vents had leaked but still just surface stuff.
Do you think you will hear anyting today? Let us know when it happens, good or bad. What does your wife think?
Ron, I have no idea about the rust issue just passing the info from a guy that converts buses and he said the rear bulk head was gone and has soft spots other places in the floor and mileage is over a million according to Prevost at Ft Worth so he says not me
Hope you get it and save it and fwiw he didn't mind me posting his offer
good luck
She was with me and really liked the ride. She was critical about the difficulty starting and the broken windshield. She even spotted the rock chip in passenger side that I overlooked. She did like the tile floor. One other problem I forgot to mention is the oil pressure would only get to about thirty on the dash gauge and at idle it was only 10 on the rear gauge. Over all the wife is happy with it if we get it at our price. He said he would call me this afternoon after he talked to the bank that repo'd it. Also has some things left from the buyer that cancelled check for twenty thou and left it at Iron Horse RV in San Antonio.
Luvrbus I called myself looking very hard but could be I missed the rust the floor on the other hand felt strong and mostly covered with ceramic tile the places that are not the plywood looks almost new. Biggest problem with floor is the numbers of holes that were drilled with hole saw to get equipment connections from bay to shop area. This bus was a rolling shop for medical equipment repair in previous life.
Ron, he told me the heavy black smoke is coming from a blown injector on the right bank they knew about it but didn't want to spend the money for a new set.
If you come up with the bus I have a used set I'll give you and stop by and help you install the set when I go to Belton
good luck

Dallas I have 3 sets of 8, 7g85,9g85 and 9g90 if you need them I am cleaning the shop I'll bring them down to you I have no need for them also have some bypass blowers for 6 and 8v92 plus a few turbos if you run across anyone looking
good luck
Luvrbus Thanks for the offer IF I get it I will let you know and appreciate the help
Dallas you were already on the list to look it over so I could pick your brain If I get it it will coming to Franklin.
Rod, Stop by Abilene on your way to Franklin! ::)
Just kidding. Hope it all works out for you guys. Glad to hear your wife was with you, I'm sure it will be a team effort!
Then let the real fun begin! ;D
Well I guess that I am back to looking unless the calls next week. I don't expect a call on Memorial day weekend and he did not call today like he promised. Not totally eliminated yet but not looking good. Are the Bus Angels just looking out for me?? Or is someone else torturing me Who Knows!!! ???javascript:void(0);
Don't worry about it Rod that is a old trick he hoping you'll get nervous and call him Sat. then he will tell you someone made a better offer but he will sell it to you for the same price.
I am going through the same with 2 buses the bank has for sale going through a 3rd party he calls everyday asking if I want to pay the better offer I just laugh because speaking with the banker I know their not sold or that he has a better offer. So I'll just wait him out till the bank gets tired of fooling with him
good luck
Rod, If it's menat to be it will be. If not there's another one out there with your name on it. Besides, you still have your wallet! ;D
If that is the game he is playing then he will loose. Played that with too many car salesmen over the years. I don't dicker my offer is the first last and final. Like Paul said there is another out there. I say I was looking when I found this one I am sure I can find another. Usually find the best one right after I bought the one I found.LOL
Rod if this don't work out there's a lot of iron out there...I just paid 1200$ for a 98 XLII salvage shell and have been rebuilding..but when all is said and done will have what I wanted..Prevost,45ft,3slides,bath and 1/2...lot of work but will have less than 25,000 in finished product...hope to sell present coach so I can zero out..they are there and will be more labor on my end but that cost zero...decent running 87 prevost seated coach went for 5 grand last week here..Bob
Rod, that was the last coach made, there are no more to be had, their all gone yep, all gone lol.
Cody you are probably right!! It happens to me every year at Christmas time. I see something that I want to get for someone but wait a little for a sale. No sale happens and low and behold when I go to get there are no more and no more will come in til next century. Why should buses be any different. This one has not gone away yet the guy called today and wanted to know if I was still interested. He said he had not been able to contact other players in this game yet and would let me know when he did. I suspect that as Luvrbus said when he gets back to me he will have a higher offer that he wants to give me the chance to meet. We'll see. It is my way or the highway I'm not going up at all. :-[
You hit the key word, "game", play it your way, or play it their way, one way you save, other way you spend lol, it's life in a nutshell.
Next time you talk to him, tell him your offer just went down $500. ;D
Rod, are you still in the game
good luck
I think Ed has it right. Make the guy a reasonable offer that you are comfortable with and tell him the offer goes down $500.00 per week.
I don't know. He called on Saturday and asked if I was still interested and I told him yes. He said he would check with the repo bank and get back to me. Monday was holiday this is Thursday. Still no word so I think it is probably off. Waiting Las Vegas Bus sales to let me know about D3 I called them about also.
I wouldn't loose much sleep over it, when the right bus hits it's at the right time and right price and without all the drama.
Cody I agree I am not going to loose any sleep. When you have been planning and looking at buses as long as I have you don't get too disappointed if the deal falls apart. When I started with this dream 9's were going for around 85K. Like I said before I was looking when I found this bus and can continue to look. Costs nothing but a little time to look.
Well this game has been played and is in the record books. Score:::: NO WINS NO LOSES NO BUS(at least not for me) Moving on to the next prospect. I WILL BE
Regarding Las Vegas Bus Sales, a friend recently bought a DL3 from them and when he and I were talking he said that some of the buses there were used to transport mine workers and were...I forgot the words he used but if they have seen much mine roads (off road/gravel/etc) then be careful on inspection.
