Title: Another antifreeze question
Post by: sweeney153 on May 22, 2010, 08:13:56 AM
I had to remove a hose for the repairs and lost about4-5 gallons of coolent.
I don't want to put the old stuff back in so I went to NAPA to get anti freeze.

They tell me what I need is
Zerex® ORIGINAL RTU
ANTIFREEZE COOLANT ZXRU1

COMPOSITION/INFORMATION ON INGREDIENTS
Components CAS-No. Concentration
ETHYLENE GLYCOL 107-21-1 >=50-<60%
DIETHYLENE GLYCOL 111-46

I just wanted to make sure before I put it in.

Thanks again

Kevin

Which engine do you have?  A Detroit 6-71 doesn't really matter that much since it have dry cylinder liners.  But if you have the Cummins NH220 with its' wet cylinder liners-it is critical to preventing cylinder liner pitting and eventually cylinder liner failure.  Good Luck, TomC
