Title: MCI headlight replacements
Post by: ojgetaway32 on May 17, 2010, 08:03:43 AM
Greettings All:

Just to pass on a recent small success story, please read and review the following:  My 1983 MC 9 headlight buckets were completely shot.  The bezels were okay, not great, but I care about the basics working, not beauty.  While the bus was a local shop having some work done, I took a chance and ordered two headlight kits for a 1978 Kenworth W900A from the nearest KW dealer.  I was skeptical but as I had been unsuccessful in finding an economical fix, I took the shot.  The shop owner was skeptical too.  Anyway, I had them shipped directly to the shop for approximately $180.00 total, product and shipping for both, they came with hardware and four new headlights and are a direct replacement.  It was everything in between the sheet metal and the bezel.  A little new wiring and the headlights are as good as new.  I know many of you want to go square and halogen and LED and yadda yadda yadda, but for me a working set of standard headlights that can be adjusted and don't point into the sky and work when you flip the switch is all I require.  But then again, I rebuilt an 8V71N instead of a motor swap, so u must coinsider the source!

I hope it helps anyone struggling with headlight issues.

Now all you need is a set of Cibie E-code headlamps instead of the lousy US DOT-code sealed beams your kit came with, and you'll be in even better shape!
