Title: Fan Hub for 6-71
Post by: JohnVickrey on May 14, 2010, 05:05:00 AM
I seem to recall a post about someone making a fan hub for a 6-71 and using a flex-fan.  Anybody remember that???  Have there been any modifications to the original design?  I know they are made out of unobtainimum, and I want to replace mine.  I will share the boring details later when I have more time.  On the road today.

I will be paying close attention to this thred. I've been playing with the idea of a new fan. Maybe to increase flow or just waste money.
   Have a great trip...Cable

John  You should have looked at the fan on "HUGGY" while we were at the busnut rally. It is a belt driven flex fan.

posted the swap on gmc yahoo group about 8 years ago...it is a pusher offroad fan from flex-a-lite... it is about an inch and a half larger than the original fan...and much more agressive...the hub I just pulled and welded solid and balanced...Its on the 671ta ddec in my 04 ..it cured my cooling problem while still using the original radiator...just match the inside diameter of your old fan mounting to the new one to order or all things needed are on the yahoo site..rdw

gg04, I can't make heads or tails out of that yahoo group.  Can you tell me how to find it, or post a link.

Cable,
Thanks, that must be it.  Sounds like a good idea, I may try it.  We were supposed to start our road trip to Evergreen, AL then on to Petal, MS last Tuesday.  We got about 4 miles from home and.......   cut to chase.  I had to replace the fan hub on the bus. Took two days. Luckily I have a donor.  The donor hub rubber is cracked but it was the same way last time I looked at it about 20 thousand miles ago.
