Title: Spotted 78 MCI
Post by: Van on May 11, 2010, 04:05:58 PM
Any one belong to a converted 78 gold MCI, mirror siding broke down on the hill here in Boulder City? Wife was coming home from shopping and spotted it, I went up to check it out,no one home and the drive shaft was out of it, guess a u joint let go and they must be hunting for parts. I left my card in the door, so if it is some one here that needs help give a hollar.V

Just curious Van,

That was easy, when I looked in the co-pilots window it said so on the tag displayed on the dash. ;) ;D

So, in other words, you cheated!!  :D

We were all going to be really impressed with your knowledge of buses.  ::)

That's a nice looking bus. I don't recognize it. Hope it wasn't damaged by loss of the driveline.  It was good of you to offer assistance.

LOL! Got me on that one Craig, It's nice that some would re mount  the original data tag once converted. I went back up the hill to see if they returned, which they did, nice couple from Tucson Az, Tom and Karen. Seems they did indeed blow a U-joint and tore up the coupler, which they got at a truck salvage yard and the rest they got from Gary over at B&B Coach, problem now is we need a couple of 20 jacks to gain access under the bus to re-install. we'll get a couple in the morning, for now they are in a good spot away from traffic and were sitting down for supper when I arrived, was glad I could assist them, we'll try and get them on their way. They don't belong to any of the forums on line, but said they might give it a whirl and check it out. Sorry bryce I was just trying to lure ya in ;), no spots, false alarm  ;D ;D

LOL, I will be looking for a set of air/hydraulic jacks, of course I can get under my bus now with out them, but good to have. For good measure and piece of mind, I had to go check my u-joints to make sure I won't have any surprises, tomorrow I hit every thing I can reach with the grease gun just to be sure. Glad to say they got er fixed and are on their way up to Wa.

When I purchased my 20 ton air over hydraulic, I decided no chinese for me, this is too important, so I ordered one from ny local parts house. It came in and I paid a bunch for it. I git it home and opened it, quess what, Made in China. My second one came from Harbor Freight, also made in China, but much cheaper.  YMMV,  Jack
