Title: Can an Allison 754 w/2nd gear start be converted to 1rst gear start?

Hey folks,

A couple questions:

Does anyone know what a conversion from 2nd gear start to 1rst gear start in a 754 entails?

Also my bus will do a 1rst gear start if I want it to but I don't know if it will upshift automatically and run normally.

I seem to remember someone saying that there are two versions of 2nd gear start 754's and one could do certain things that the other one can't.

If nobody knows about this does anybody know a really good allison guy who might know?

HT754 is a mechanical transmission.  I believe you'll have to exchange your valve body for a new one.  Call Bob at Pedco in Santa Fe Springs, Ca to confirm.  Good Luck, TomC

Good news... it looks like all it will require is a separator plate and some different springs so my transmission friend Ken and I are gonna do it sometime in the near future.

I'll keep you all posted
