Title: Parts In Common? - 671 DD vs. 6V92 Turbo
Post by: RickK80Eagle10 on May 09, 2010, 05:31:46 PM
I am new to the group and this is my first post. I am excited to get started on repairing my recently purchased 1980 Eagle Model 10. I thank everyone for their help/replies in advance.

I have a GMC 4104 with a non turbo DD 671. I had replaced the radiator in it years ago. Will it work in my Eagle's 6V92 Turbo? Are there any parts that are interchangable or are they completey different? Thanks.

I strongly suspect you have a 6V92 and not a 671 in a 1980 Eagle.

Your old radiator core is only going to do any good if it is the exact same size and configuration as the one on the Eagle.  The Eagle is likely to have more cooling because of the turbo and additional horsepower.  You don't want to install a smaller radiator than stock.

Thank you for the correction and input. It would help if I started with the correct engine. My first mistake of many I'm sure. Thanks again.

There is very little in common between the 6-71 and 6V-92.  The 6V-71 and 6V-92 have some components in common-like the valve covers, blower, water pump (on some), thermostats, exhaust manifolds, can have the same bell housing, and some of the fuel injection components, oil pan.  The 6V-92TA will have almost twice the cooling requirements then a non turbo'd 6-71N.  So NO, your 4104 radiator won't be big enough for your 6V-92TA.  If this is a question still-just look at the radiator size difference between a 4104 and a 4106.  If you had a 4106, or 08 radiator-that would probably work.  Good Luck, TomC
