I haven't advertised many new updates, but there are several months of pictures of the bus, I'm looking to have the outside completed by the end of this month......! Just don't hold me to that! ;D The pictures are at the site below......enjoy! As usual comments are welcome good and not so good!
Pat, Looks great and it certainly doesn't look like your cutting any corners. Couple of questions - Why stainless on the floor? What did you use for the outside skins and how are they attached? The molding between the skin sections is small, compact and looks really good. Who's molding is it? You should be proud.
Kenny
Kenny, thanks.....Prevost used sheet stainless over the rear wheels to eliminate problems with the wood flooring it sealed the weather and bad conditions out! The outer siding is .090 alum (which is probably over kill) and all of the skins are attached with Sika 252. The top curved sections were rolled by a company in Columbus called Blackburn Fabrication, I gave them one from Prevost to use as a template, I at the time thought their siding was to thin and showed way to many waves! I'll find out once its painted! 99% of the work is being done by myself and sons! The engine was built and dyno'd by Jasper Engines with input from people working way over my head! They worked for Penske/Jasper! I hope to have this all finished (the outside) by the end of May.........we'll see....LOL! One thing I didn't mention was you end up installing this siding about 3 times for each piece before its finished!....Measure, cut, cut again, then fit.......fit.........and fit again until it looks right.........the doors are not fun!
Pat,
That is one nice looking bus. You are doing a fantastic job.
Are you going to paint it yourself? You mentioned something about Columbus. Is that Columbus, OH? If you are near there, some people use Star Jet. However, let me warn you. They REALLY messed out bus up. We have redone so much of their work, that it isn't even funny. If we had have know the terrible work that they did, we probably would have done it ourselves (it would have taken longer, but it would have been done right).
I have heard that they have done gone work. They painted Nick's bus, and did a good job (methinks it was because Nick was a mod on the board here, and they wanted to do good work for him.). So if you are somebody that they care about, you have a better possibility of getting a nice job. However, if they think that you are "just another job" lookout! They could spoil all of your nice exterior work.
FWIW
God bless,
John
Pat, What about the moldings, who's are they? Also, the panels just above the baggage doors are typically riveted in place using a lot of rivets for structural reasons. Did you remove them and replace with panels Sika'd to the framing? Just curious on how you maintained the structural integrity. Kenny
I have the same generator and I really like it. The only issue I have had is the sensors for cooling and also oil have failed twice, shutting down my engine. I tested them be bypassing and the engine runs fine . I did replace both of them. Fuel consumption is great. Marc
Kenny, all of the trim I've made and they are riveted and I used Sika on them too! On a Prevost unlike MCI the skin is not part of the structural integrity of the bus it has a full carbon steel chassis!
Looks real good Pat! 8)
You have come a long way and accomplished a great deal, you must be very proud!

Outstanding Pat!!!! I LOVE stainless and use it whenever I can in all my projects as well as my art. And you forming your headlight buckets is awesome as well!!! (By the way, have you ever heard of Metal Meet? Great bunch of guys and a fantastic website for people who like to work in metal, especially custom auto. Check'em out.)
Keep up the fantastic work!
