on public surplus. Auction #436525 - 330 HP Series 50 Engine. complete with trans. no bids yet at $2500. thanks Kent
This thing sold for $4100 You can't even buy the radiators for that.
I bid up to $4k.
So was it one of us that is the new proud owner?? I did notice there was no turbo on the motor. But with the transmission??? somebody basically stole this.
Rick
Rick, it looked like only 2 of you were bidding on the engine. It did have the turbo, it is on the side of the engine. If you are looking for a series 50 I think the buses in Salt Lake will be a good buy. There are 3 of them with almost mew engines and transmissions. There you could get all the wiring and sell the scrap for more than the buses will bring.
They were up one time with a starting bid of $5,000 and didn't get a bid. Now the starting bid is $1,000 but there is going to be a reserve.

That engine was a newer SERIES 50 W/EGR
Not a feature I'd want in my bus
EGR is a HIGH Maintenance item
Older Series 50 - HAVE NO EGR feature
For that price with a new tranny I would've budgeted in the maintenance. That pack was brand spanking new.
It doesn't matter because it's someone else's anyways.
