Title: 4106 Temp Gauge
Post by: Madmike on April 28, 2010, 08:13:42 AM
On my bus I can not get the temp gauge to work. I have checked the connections but they look good. Does any one know where i can get the sensors or if i can by pass it.
I also have a problem with the fuel gauge, it is located by the fuel tank and always jumps to full no matter how much is in it. Anybody got any Ideas???
I have an Onan 6.5kw generator. I have the batteries hook up, I wanted to bump the engine to make sure it would spin. It does not seem to be getting power, I have checked the breakers and have tried the in cab button and the button on the machine.
I have a new Atwood Water Heater to hook up also, but i will get back with you guys on that one.

When more than one gauge is not working it is a good idea to check the grounds to the dash panel.  To check the temp gauge ground the lead at the sending unit.  That should give full deflection of the gauge.  If it does that tells you the gauge and wiring is OK.  If not, ground the lead at the gauge.  If full deflection then gauge is OK and check wiring.

The fuel gauge could have a grounded wire between the gauge and sending unit causing full deflection.  Try removing the wire at the sending unit to see if the gauge goes down.  If not remove the wire at the gauge.  If the gauge does not zero suspect the gauge.

But check the grounds first.  Another good practice is to check/clean/ and especially tighten ALL the connections in both the front and rear junction panels.

You stand a better chance of getting good responses to just a single question per post. Otherwise it can get confusing as to which question is being discussed.

Good luck
