We made it back home last night from my sons basic training graduation in S.C. last night. 2,230 miles round trip. "Ole Blue" only had one hiccup which was a leak at the return coolant line that returns to the coolant filter. The flare had decided to start leaking. Flared a new piece and had to use heater hose to splice the line back together as the parts store only had about 2 feet of the right size copper tubing and its about a four foot run. That happened in the first 350 miles. She ran the hills at an easy 70mph. She only used about a gallon of oil the whole trip. Even averaged about 8 mpg.
We stayed at River Bottom Farms outside Swansea, SC. Nice park.
Dropped our son outside Augusta at Ft. Gordon and headed right into storms and tornado's in front of and behind us through Georgia. It got a little hairy for a while.
I made it to the RV sales store across from my shop to dump the waste before I put her to bed. Shut it off, dumped the waste then it would not start. It would not turn over or even click. Waited about 10 minutes after pouring some cool water over the starter and it fired up. Not sure if the cool water did the trick but at least it started. I thought if it decided to give me a real problem at least it was across the street from the shop ;D. So later this week I will start trying to eliminate what the problem might be. I definitely need to get with Pete and add cruise before the next trip. I think my right leg muscles grew about two inches, lol.

We took our bus to my daughters grad at Ft. Jackson. It was just after 911. She couldn't leave the base so we drove around the base at one point we dropped her off in front of her barracks as we waited a car pulled up behind us I pulled around the block before she came out. One of the soldiers standing there told her she just missed her bus her reply was oh it will be back its my dad. We all got a good laugh
Glad you had a good trip

Bryan,
Nice report, even though you had one minor issue. It could have been major though, glad you caught it!
Starter huh, check your cables at the battery and starter. Sounds like a connection issue to me, but it's a wild guess from here. ;D
Glad to hear of a good run :)
Bryan,
That was a good trip!
I was visiting with some busnut friends the other night and we agreed that the first years trips are all "shakedown" cruises.
I would give yours a "9".
Being able to adapt items to the situation is a good trait to have owning one of these beasts. :P
Glad You and your Family had a nice trip.

Rick,
That's funny. When you pull into Hilton Field where the ceremonies are the soldiers at the entry there were scratching there heads on graduation day as to where they wanted me to park. I told them don't worry I know where to go since I parked there the day before for family day, lol.
Paul,
Fortunately my expansion tank low coolant level buzzer and warning lights still work. So it buzzed on me a couple of brief moments about 3 miles from a Love's truckstop. By the time I got stopped it was buzzing steady. At least it happened when I was close to the truckstop and about 1 mile from a parts store to get the needed coolant hose and flare tool for a pretty simple fix :o I will start checking grounds and pull the starter solenoid to check contacts. Then harness connections etc..
Cliff,
I thought it was a pretty uneventful trip overall. That's what I like. Although the wife does have a picture of me half way over the top of the engine reattaching coolant line brackets, lol.
I did realize the other tool and extra parts to throw in is a flare tool and a few sticks of copper line.
